What is Safety?

Safety is the state of being "safe" (from French sauf), the condition of being protected
against physical, social, spiritual, financial, political, emotional, occupational, psychological,
educational or other types or consequences of failure, damage, error, accidents, harm or any
other event which could be considered non-desirable. This can take the form of being protected
from the event or from exposure to something that causes health or economical losses. It.can
include protection of people or of possessions.

It also refers to the prevention of illness, injury, and hazards in the workplace for all
individuals. Workplace safety involves the creation of a safe and healthy environment for all
workers to evade hazards, injuries, and illnesses. Organizations can ensure the efficiency of all
workers and circumvent a considerable amount of costs by ensuring workplace safety and
health. Organizations develop different strategies through which they set up different work place
safety policies and benefit the workers through this. Workplace injuries and illnesses lead to
compensation benefits, health insurance costs, hiring temporary replacements, lost work hours,
and lawsuits. Lack of concentration would cost severe damage to an organization and they
should sort such issues in order to attain proactive benefits. The morale and motivation of the
individuals increase due to the implementation of rules that safeguard the health and interest of
one. feel that we are safe to work in this place, and through this perspective, we would perform
well.

A safety plan is necessary and it comprises of certain steps that would develop a safer
workplace. Organizations should make sure that everyone else in the workplace is aware of the
core problem. People should notify their respective supervisors and they should file any reports
if there is a problem. An important aspect is that people should realize that there is a problem as
sitting back and holding the problem for a long time would not solve the problem.

Safety is life. Safety is procedures/rules to keep people free from danger or injury. Safety
applies to anything and everything in life. Safety is arguably one of the most important and
meaningful words and/or ways of life for anything and everything living. Safety First. Safety
Always . Health and safety is not a static issue, it’s constantly changing as workplaces and
technologies evolve and only in partnership can we continue to improve health and safety
outcomes. Safety is also beneficial for all organizations since, in addition to avoiding costly
fines, it ensures increased productivity, better morale, and fewer lost work days.

Safety is a way of life—meaning that it is not something one should have to stop and think
about, but should be as familiar and about as automatic as breathing. Of course, breathing
comes naturally from day one, but safety only becomes automatic as we gradually absorb the
lessons learned from parents, teachers, books, and our own trial-and-error experiences.
