A legend has it that once a year, a boy gets lost in the lagoon, whose main reason
for disappearing is a criollo siren, who catches him in his love affairs through his
song and beauty.
Others say that in the center of the lagoon there is a "siren" that sucks the poor
who dare to swim in its waters. Today the "Little Mermaid" must have emigrated,
because there is almost no water.
There are others who say that according to the legend of the Laguna de Alegría,
there is a siren that lives in the bottom of the waters, who likes handsome men and
young people. If someone bathes in the lagoon and the mermaid falls in love with
them, he catches them by taking them to the bottom. After a few days, he releases
them and they return to the surface without life.
