    METHOD STATEMENT FOR SUB BASE WORKS

    1 GENERAL

    The works generally consist of laying and compacting sub base material on prepared sub
    grade in accordance to the requirement and specification given.

    2 MATERIALS

    We shall inform and notify the Engineer in writing of our proposed sources of crushed stone,
    aggregates or combination of these depending on grading (see figure 1) and passing of these
    material in accordance to the specification (401.2.1.).

    2.1 Physical Requirement

    It shall be ensured that the material to be used satisfies the requirement of soaked
    CBR value of 30% and 98% MDD as per IS: 2720(Part 8) and other physical
    requirement when compacted and finished.

    2.2 Preparation of Mix

    OMC to be determined in accordance with IS: 2720(Part 8) of the material to be


    used and the mix for sub base shall be prepared in an approved mixing plant. The
    mix shall be uniformly mixed by adding water and due allowance to be given for
    evaporation loses during transportation.

    3 EQUIPMENT AND MHETOD

    3.1 The equipment to be used for laying and spreading of sub base shall be by using
    mechanical paver, or motor grader with hydraulic control blades, vibration roller
    and water truck as and when necessary.

    3.2 Immediately upon receiving of the mixed sub base material, the mix shall be
    spread uniformly in layers on the prepared sub grade according to the thickness
    specified by using mechanical paver or motor grader.

    3.3 Thereafter, rolling shall be carried out by using vibration roller minimum of 100Kn
    static weight and rolling will be carried out starting from lower edge towards upper
    edge longitudinally.
