Model : Titani 3140Q
Part no : N/A.

INTRODUCTION

Alignment activity is a crucial part of every rotating equipment prior to operation or

commissioning. A good alignment will prolong the life shelf of the components of a rotating
equipment’s. This will reduce bearing, shaft and coupling failure by ensuring low vibration and
low temperature during operation.

METHODOLOGY

Laser alignment

- Fluke 830 Laser Alignment Tools

- Green Indicator for both vertical and horizontal alignment

i. Vertical alignment
- To align parallel offset and remove soft foot
- Positive indication shows additional adjustment required for both gap and offset
- Negative indication shows adjustment required to lower gap and offset
- To ensure alignment reading falls under green zone

ii. Horizontal alignment

- To align the shaft centreline for both parallel and angular.
- Positive indication shows additional adjustment required for both gap and offset
- Negative indication shows adjustment required to lower gap and offset
- To ensure alignment reading falls under green zone

Step

- To start aligning the pump to gearbox coupling(Slow Coupling) due to pump set as
stationary as it is already tied in to the process line
- To proceed the alignment from gearbox to motor coupling (Fast Coupling) after pump to
gearbox alignment finalized.
Results

Image 2: Slow Coupling Alignment Reading

Conclusion

The alignment was in a green zone within the tolerance, therefore ready for next commissioning activity ie
Motor solo run test, lube oil pump test, and pump mechanical run test.
