Topic Eight: Important Gear

Learning Outcomes
You will learn about what you need, aside from your digital camera, when going for a
basic shoot.

Camera Bag

The equipment you should pack includes the following:

This will be used to store all of your items, including your DSLR

DSLR

This is the one thing you don’t want to forget when going out to take photographs.

SD Card

These are also called memory cards.

Battery Pack & Charger

Make sure you leave with at least two batteries fully charged.

Lenses & Lens cap

Having a selection of lenses can be nice as it


gives you more range when taking
photographs depending on the focal length of
the lens. Always bring lenses caps and keep
them on the lenses when you are not using the
lenses to keep them safe.

Tripod

Using a tripod isn’t strictly a


requirement but it will definitely
improve the balance and stability of
your pictures.

Shot List (Optional, but advised on an important shoot)

This will keep you focused on what you


want to shoot and you can tick them off as
you go.
