2. SDRAM/EEFROM-defective or unsoldered
3. Other components- defective or unsolder

Remedies/Solution:

I. Power Supply Section- Check the supply voltage input and DC output, look for the defective
components. Some is physically damaged and some must be check by multimeter/VOM- if
the trouble is persisting replace whole power supply by same brand and model.
AC Stage Supply: It must have 90-250 ACV 50/60 Hz
1. Plug and Cord- Check the continuity, replaced if found defective
2. Power Switch- Check the continuity, replaced if found defective
3. Fuse- Check the continuity, replaced if found defective, same power rating
4. Line Filter/AC Filter Capacitor- replaced or resolder
Switching Mode- Switch Off- It must switching ON
1. Opto-coupler-swap replaced or resolder
2. Power IC-swap, replaced or resoldered
DC Stage Supply and Output- It must have 12, -12 and 5 DCV
1. Full Bridge Rectifier Diode- replaced or resolder
2. Filter Capacitor- replaced or resolder
3. Dropping Resistor- replaced or resolder
4. Chopping Transformer- replaced or resolder
5. Secondary rectifier diode, fast diode filter capacitor, transistor and resistor- replaced
or resolder
6. DC Output/wire connector-resolder or check continuity
II. Mainboard/Logic Board/MPEG Board- Mostly if this has damaged you will replace the whole board,
just look for the same brand and model of the DVD player
1. Central Processing Unit- resolder
2. SDRAM/EEFROM- resolder
3. Other components- resolder

No Disc, Un disc, Disc Error

Defective Sections/Stages/Components

I. Compact Disc- damaged or scratched

II. Optical Pick-up/Lens Assembly-blurred, damaged, maladjusted

1. Lens objective- dirty or scratched
2. LASER diode- defective or unsoldered
3. Trimmer Resistor- defective or maladjusted
4. Flexible/Flex Cable- Damaged or misalignment
5. Lens Assembly- Damaged

III. Mechanical Section- damaged, malfunctioned, abnormal, or bad connection

2.Sled Motor- stuck-up or partially shorted or damaged
3. Sled- damaged, abnormal or malfunctioned
4. Disc Chuck and Clamper- malfunctioned or abnormal
5. Locked-engaged- not fully engaged, abnormal or malfunctioned
6. Contact Switch- dirty, bad connection or malfunctioned
7. Motor Board- unsolder or bad connection
8, Ribbon Wires- open or bad connection

IV. Power Supply Section- Low voltage supply

1. Components on the power supply- it could be leaky, partially shorted, bad contact
or bad/cold solder

V. Mainboard/Logic Board/MPEG Board

1. Central Processing Unit- Defective or unsoldered
2. Servo IC- damaged or unsoldered
3. Other components- defective or unsolder

Remedies/Solutions:

I. Compact Disc- use readable CD for testing purposes

II. Optical Pick-up/Lens Assembly- it must be free from dirt and scratch, replace the whole
optical pick-up if the trouble persist
1. Lens objective- clean the lens by cotton bud
2. LASER diode- replace or resolder
3. Trimmer Resistor- adjust the resistance of the trimmer resistor
4. Flexible/Flex Cable- replace or realign
5. Lens Assembly- replaced or swap
III. Mechanical Section- whole mechanism should be free any dirt, crack and damaged
1. Spindle motor- test by ohmmeter X1, if found defective replace it.
2.Sled Motor- stuck-up or partially shorted or damaged
3. Sled- check the function of sled, use lubricant to fix some problem
4. Disc Chuck and Clamper- the height of the disc chuck must proper and the position is ok
5. Locked-engaged- is must be fully engaged and properly position
6. Contact Switch- free from dirt
7. Motor Board- look for the bad solder and check the connections
8, Ribbon Wires- check continuity and the connections

IV. Power Supply Section- Power supply must have 12,-12 and 5 DCV
1. Components on the power supply- check the possible leaky components like diode,
capacitor transistor or IC, some components is partially shorted. Cold or bad connections
is also possible reason for low voltage power supply.

V. Mainboard/Logic Board/MPEG Board- Mostly if this has damaged you will replace the whole
board, just look for the same brand and model of the DVD player.
1. Central Processing Unit- replace or resolder
2. Servo IC- replace or resolder
