The Characteristics of Task

1. The Requirements for task Mastery should be clear without Revealing the Solution

While your tasks should be complex, the final product should be clear. Learners should not
have to question whether they are finished, or if they have provided what you want.

Role playing is the best task to give. Ex. ”Explain how the human in Stone Age hunts their
food”

(Picture framing), (miming), (musical)

Giving this task gives student a complex idea to do the task but the final output was the same to
explain how the humans in Stone Age hunts
2. The Tasks Should Represent a Specific activity from which generalization about the learner's
knowledge, thinking ability and habits of mind can be made

What performance tests lack in breadth of coverage they make up in depth. In other words, they
allow you to observe a wide range of behavior in a narrow domain of skill.

Group problem solving giving an activity by group with same task. Ex. Give different types of
learning process and explain it in front of the class.

1st the student will group their selves to discuss and to combine their ideas about the given topic

2nd each members will pick their own topic to discuss

This task will let them show their skills in collaboration and also in individual learning even
practice their oral skills and also enhance their confidence in front of others.

3. The Tasks Should Be Complex Enough To Allow For Multi-Modal Assessment

Most assessment tends to depend on the written word. Performance tests, however are designed
to allow learners to demonstrate learning through a variety of modalities.

Movie analysis let them watch a movie, give them specific question about that movie to assess if
they clearly understand the movie, give them a task to write their analysis about the movie and
list the important part of the movie, give them time to rechecked and rewrite the activity and let
them includes self-reflection in the said activities.

4. The Tasks should yield multiple solutions where possible each with costs and benefits

Performance testing is not a form of practice or drill. it should involve more than simple task for
which there is one solution.

Summative task giving a student an examination that deals with his understanding and memory.

5. The tasks should require self-regulated learning

Performance tests should require considerable mental effort and place high demand on the
persistence and determination of the individual learner.

Portfolio giving a portfolio task from the start to the end of class is also part of regulated
learning, such as being organized and also letting themselves to give time to finish the task that
was given to them.
