This lesson plan aims to teach students about parallel, intersecting, and perpendicular lines. Students will play games to practice identifying different types of lines and forming lines according to instructions. They will analyze illustrations of lines and define what parallel, intersecting, and perpendicular lines are. Students will find real-world examples of different lines and complete an activity worksheet. They will then be evaluated by drawing examples of each type of line within 3 minutes.

Date: October 6, 2017
I. OBJECTIVES: 1. Describe parallel , intersecting , and perpendicular lines. 2. Illustrate parallel , intersecting , and perpendicular lines. 3. Show orderliness in forming different kinds of lines II. SUBJECT MATTER: TOPIC : Different Kinds of Lines Materials: concrete objects , pictures/cutouts of parallel lines, intersecting lines and perpendicular lines , activity sheets , ruler References: K to 12 CG, TG p. 205 , and LM Math Grade 4 pages 156 and 157 Value : orderliness in forming lines and cooperation III. PROCEDURE: A. Preparatory Activities: 1. Drill : Identifying points, lines segments, rays and lines using flash cards 2. Review Game “ What am I “ ( contest ) a. I have an exact location in space. I am represented by a dot. b. I have no endpoint and I can go on and on in opposite directions. c. I start out at a point and can be extended in one direction. d. I am a part of a line with 2 endpoints. 3. Motivation : Picture/ imagine yourselves in front of the flagpole forming lines for the flag raising ceremony . How should you form your lines ? B. Developmental Activities: 1. ACTIVITY Have a game on “ Forming Lines “. Let the pupils form different kinds of lines depending on the instructions given. Group them into 4 groups. INSTRUCTIONS: a. Group 1 will form 2 straight lines. b. Group 2 will form 2 lines that meet at the center. c. Group 3 will form one line and another line for those who are in group 4. Then , form 2 lines that show square corners. _ After the game , illustrate on the board the lines that you formed a while ago. _ Mark the illustrations as Figure 1 for group 1 illustration, Figure 2 for the Group 2 Illustration , and Figure 3 for Group 3 illustration. 2. ANALYSIS: a. How did you find the activity? b. How did you form the different lines during the game? c. Based on the illustrations on the board, what can you say about the lines in figure 1? Figue2?, and Figure 3? d. In your own opinion, what do you call these lines? e. In your own idea, what is our topic/lesson for today? 3. ABSTRACTION What is the definition/meaning of parallel lines? intersecting lines ? , and perpendicular lines? 4. APPLICATION: _ What are the different kinds of lines? _ Look around inside the room . Find an object/thing that represents parallel lines, Intersecting lines, and perpendicular lines. _ 3 – minute activity ( Group activity) - 4 groups _ Each group will be given activity sheets , cutouts/pictures and instructions. _ Each group will present their outputs in front and do the reporting. _ Check their answers. IV. EVALUATION Prepare a sheet of paper, pencil and a ruler. Draw parallel lines, intersecting lines, and perpendicular lines. Do it within 3 minutes. V. ASSIGNMENT Draw each pair of lines using a ruler. 1. Line AB is parallel to line CD. 2. Line EF intersects line GF. 3. Line IJ is perpendicular to line KL.
