Radisson Fort George Multi Restaurant Experience

Radisson Hotel and Marina which is located at 2 Marine Parade in Belize City is one of Belize famous
hotel which host four category in the food industry. They offer meals such as breakfast, lunch and dinner
in one of the outlets. I was assigned by my lecture to examine and critique the style, service, ambience
and menu of the restaurants found in Radisson below is my findings.

Radisson is a beautiful, easily accessible and comfortable hotel and restaurant to visit. They are situated
near the Caribbean Sea and in a safe environment. Upon entering the restaurant is their spacious
parking lot that is provided for both hotel and restaurant guest. The parking lot has a security in the
main parking that watch over your vehicle when you’re present at the business. Also they provide
parking near their marina.

The first restaurant I visited at Radisson is their Le Petit Café where they provide light snack, indulgent
dessert, hot teas and coffee, Johnny cakes, croissant etc. The open hours are from 6 am to 7 pm daily.
This café has three server. The service here was sufficient and the service was not welcoming by the
waiters. When I entered the restaurant they said good evening and did not ask what they could have
helped me with, or told me what they had available at the time. Their facial expression was kind of
disturbing because it looked like they were not happy with customers walking in especially since it was
almost closing time. The showcase which had slight snack such as chocolates, biscuits and chips was
almost empty. The area was very clean and the room was filled with a nice coffee scent. The tables were
presentable and comfortable situated they were not too close together and they had a very cosy table
near the counter. The lights were at a mile setting not too bright nor too dull just perfect.

I went over to St. George restaurant after where we were greeted professionally. St. George’s
Restaurant, a tropical-themed eatery with everything from international cuisine to local
seafood. Lunch specials are served Monday through Wednesday, lunch buffets are
available on Thursday and Friday, and other specials are served exclusively on the
weekend. This restaurant also features catering menus and customizable buffets for
large groups and a kids menu is also available. The service at St. George restaurant was
exceptional the waiter took the time out the answered all our questions, she was setting the tables
because it was almost time for their dinner clients. The tables were set with beautiful table clothes, the
cups, plate and knives were set neatly on the table. She mentioned that they had six persons total
working that time to serve their guest. 1 chief, a bartender, 2 persons to prepare warm meals, a person
to prepare cold meals, and two waiter. And that their supervisor will be around to oversee the service
provided and available to meet and greet customers. The lighting in the room was mild and the music
was calming and the view of the pool was amazing. The bathroom was cleaned and they had soap, toilet
paper and it was functioning properly.

The opening hours are:

6:30–10 am | Breakfast, daily

11:30 am–2 pm | Lunch, daily

11:30 am–2 pm | Brunch, Sundays (bi-monthly)

6–10 pm | Dinner, daily

I also visited the Stonegrill restaurant where they provide dinner and a show, and expert chefs prepare
meals that you cook tableside on superheated volcanic stones. The cooks use a searing method that
locks in the natural flavours of your food for boldness and zest without any added fats or oils. This can
be a classified as an eatertainment restaurants where music is playing, chef interact with customer and
the food preparation in front of customer is the main attraction. The menu is a little heavy and it
displays the different type of meals however it doesn’t show exactly what the ingredients for the meal
are, the menu is colourful and has pictures and it also matches the décor of the restaurant. The service
here was not too good, the waiter never did checked on us. They have about 5 person’s present at the
time we visited and they were all doing their own thing, the supervisor was not present either. The
restroom here was clean and working fine. The opening hour is noon – 10 pm daily

The last restaurant I visited was the Baymen tavern were the service was at its worse, the waiters were
not pleased with us there at all, their faces was unpleasant and they were not professional at all. They
don’t try to greet customers nor welcome them with a friendly gesture. The view here was amazing, the
setting area was presentable and the tables were decorated well. The menu here was long and boring
not attractive at all. The pricing was reasonable and the food was ok. The food arrived about 20 minutes
after ordering and the drinks were not nice, it tasted cheap. They also provide a kids menu. And their
happy hour is available from 5pm to 6pm. The Bathroom here was clean but they never had toilet paper
in all the stall. The waiters were not attentive and the service was slow. The open hours here is 10 am to
10pm.

After visiting all the restaurants at Radisson I notice that their customer service is bad! The workers are
not professional, they don’t take pride in their job and they are not trained properly. I suggest that
management train their staff to be attentive, friendly and courteous.
