The online application form is available on www.thapar.edu. Fill the complete details
and then take the print out of the form. Please keep one copy of the printout of
completely filled form as it will be required at the time of document checking during
counselling.
Last date for FN/NRI candidates to apply for all programs: July 10, 2020
BE/BTECH ONLINE COUNSELLING SCHEDULE: (To be announced after JEE Main – 2020 and
10+2 results are declared.)
Online counselling for BE/BTech programme will be held for Mode - 1 only (for 70% of
seats on the percentile based merit of JEE Main– 2020 Merit).
For Mode - 2 (for 30% of seats on the basis of 10+2 PCM merit) admission will be done by
in-person counselling only.

1 Candidates seeking admission in Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology shall fill
up the online application form available on our website www.thapar.edu. The
candidates are required to fill complete details in the online form. Follow the process
mentioned hereunder for filling up online application form:
If you have filled the application form and paid the application fee successfully through
online mode, then you will receive the confirmation by email regarding the
acceptance of your online application form. In case you choose the option of making
payment through Demand Draft (DD), then you will receive the confirmation by email
regarding the acceptance of your online application form after Institute receives your
filled Application Form along with DD through Registered Post/Courier/Speed Post or
by hand at the following address:
After filling the online application form, take two printouts of the form.
If Application Fee is paid Online: The candidates are not required to send the printout
of application form but they must produce it at the time of document checking of
original documents during ‘In-person’ counselling.
If Application Fee is paid through DD: Please send one of the printouts by attaching
DD of required amount as mentioned in filled online Application Form/Prospectus (in
favour of Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology and payable at Patiala) to “In-
charge Admission Cell’ Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala (Punjab)-
147 004.
Retain second copy of the printout of the form to be produced at the time of document
checking of original documents during ‘In-person’ counselling.
Important Note: A candidate cannot claim admission merely by filling the application
form and paying the application fee. If he/she fulfils the eligibility criteria as per the
prospectus, only then he/she shall be considered for admission during counselling. So,
candidates are advised to read eligibility and other conditions before filling the form.
2 The original certificates and set of attested copies of the certificates are required to be
produced at the time of document checking during ‘In-person’ counselling.
3 Every candidate must indicate in his/her application the category for which he/she
wants to apply. A copy of the certificate of the concerned reserved category (if
applicable) shall be produced at the time of document checking during ‘In-person’
counselling.
4 Incomplete application form in any manner and received after the due date/time will
be rejected. The Institute does not take any responsibility for postal delay or loss in transit
of the application form, demand draft, withdrawal form or any other communication
in this regard.
5 The specimens of the format of the required certificates are available on our website
for the guidance of candidates. Each certificate must be submitted on the prescribed
format and must be issued by the competent authority as mentioned, under proper
seal/stamp of their office on a date prior to or on the last date for submission of
application form.
8 In case of any dispute, the decision of the Director, Thapar Institute of Engineering &
Technology, Patiala shall be final and binding on the candidates.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:
Candidate wishing to withdraw the seat, must submit the application to IN-CHARGE,
ADMISSION CELL, Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology. The fee will be refunded
after adjusting all the outstanding dues (if any). The candidates are advised to mention
their Bank Account Number and IFSC code of the bank for the prompt refund.

2 If any of the seats in the reserve categories remain unfilled, such vacant seats shall be
filled by General category candidates on the basis of merit in the final round of in-
person counselling. In case a SC seat remains vacant, it will be first offered to ST
candidate or a vice versa before converting into General Category.
5 Admitted candidates will have to submit the migration certificate from the earlier
University/Board within a month of their admission in TIET.
6 The statements made in this Prospectus and all other information, contained herein are
believed to be correct at the time of publication. However, the Institute reserves the
right to make changes in and/or additions to the regulations of Institute at any time,
without notice and conditions governing the conduct of students, requirements for
degree, fee and any other information, or statements contained in this Prospectus
either on its own or under any rules or regulations imposed by UGC/MHRD. No
responsibility will be accepted by the Institute for hardship or expense encountered by
its students or any other person for such changes, additions, omissions or errors, no
matter how they are caused.
7 All disputes will be subject to jurisdiction of the Courts at Patiala only. The person in
whose name the Institute can sue or be sued shall be the Registrar, Thapar Institute of
Engineering & Technology, Patiala.
8 The students of all the regular programmes are not allowed to join any job till they
complete all the requirements for the award of degree. Only part-time students are
allowed to join job.
9 In case, a selected candidate submits false information about fee, eligibility, rank of
entrance test or a candidate who is not offered any seat but deposits the full fee then
seat allotted to him/her shall stand cancelled.
10 Candidates must be medically fit and must bring along with them a medical fitness
certificate signed by a Gazetted Medical Officer at the time of admission on the
prescribed proforma as per Annexure-III.
APPLICATION FEE: It can be paid through online mode or Demand Draft (DD).
i. In case of online payment (mode), the payment of Application fee can be done at
the end of online application form while filling the same. This payment can be done
through secured online payment gateway using Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking.
ii. In the form of Demand Draft (DD), the DD of requisite amount should be made in favour
of Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology and payable at Patiala. The DD must
reach the Institute on or before the prescribed date otherwise the candidature shall be
cancelled.
12 MODES OF PAYMENT OF FEE (ADMISSION FEE + SEMESTER FEE) AFTER SEAT ALLOTMENT:
ii. In the form of Demand Draft (DD), the DD of requisite amount should be made in favour
of Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology and payable at Patiala. The DD must
reach the Institute on or before the prescribed date otherwise the candidature shall be
cancelled.
iii. The candidates can also make the fee payment using Challan Form of Kotak Mahindra
Bank (available at www.thapar.edu) by the prescribed last date otherwise the
candidature shall be cancelled.
