Thematic Unit Questions
1. How does your thematic unit apply appropriate pedagogy and best practices are
used for the instruction of English learners? (Tasks 1.1 and 1.2)
● I wanted to teach about music since everyone grew up listening to music. I would
start off with most of my lessons with KWL charts because they may know about
the different kinds of music. I think mini presentations of what the lesson would
be about with fill in the blanks worksheet. Then, in the end, I would have the
students work on independent activities and comparing with partners.
2. How are the materials used in your thematic unit culturally, linguistically, and
developmentally appropriate for English learners? (Task 2)
● The materials that I used were to help the students to create their own things to
help them understand the different kinds of there are and now it has impacted
everyone. The technology is important as well because they can get their
information through the computer with keywords.
3. How do the learning activities in your thematic unit use English learners’ prior
knowledge and primary language? (Tasks 3.1 and 3.2)
● Many of the activities are pretty easy and self-explanatory but I would be more
attentive towards the ELs doing my best to assist them.
4. How do the teaching strategies in your thematic unit integrate and develop English
learners’ academic English in reading, writing, listening, and speaking? (Task 4)
● I make sure the students get to be part of discussions with a partner or as a class.

slips or discussion slips are some strategies to help with the reading and writing to
discuss their thoughts.

measure English learners’ academic achievement? (Task 5)
