To Whom It May Concern,
It is my absolute pleasure to endorse the skills of Paige Sparkman. I had the privilege of working with Ms.
Sparkman at John Glenn High School, where Paige worked as a College Adviser during my time as an
administrator in the district. Immediately, I could see the passion she had for this field. Paige has a
natural gift for working with adolescents, taking on the role of John Glenn’s College Adviser with
confidence and competence.
Ms. Sparkman took on a caseload of 380 seniors, with 80% of that population being first-generation,
underrepresented students. Her primary focus was working with students on postsecondary planning and
the college admissions process. During her year of service 86% of our seniors submitted college
applications and our schools FAFSA completion rate increased by 12% in one year. These statistics help
to illustrate Ms. Sparkman’s commitment to her students success. She successfully balanced the array of
demands that occur within a school setting; collaborating intentionally with teachers, counselors, and
administrators; and forming meaningful relationships with students and their families.
I admired Ms. Sparkman’s ability to form relationships with students. Many students felt comfortable
reaching out to her for a variety of reasons, including our underclassmen. She made it her mission to
create a college culture in our building where students were aware of the variety of options available to
them after graduation. Paige had a way of recognizing the uniqueness and individual needs of each
student, showing our students that she genuinely cared.
It is my opinion as an administrator that Paige’s passion and strong work ethic will make her an
exemplary School Counselor and she would be an asset to any campus.
Sincerely,
