    Screencast­o­matic: Setting Up and Getting Started 

     
    How do I get started with Screencast­o­matic. 
     
    What is this, and what is it good for?: 
    Screencast­o­Matic is a web based service that allows you to create a screen recording. In 
    other words, the software captures your computer desktop as a video, and allows you to 
    capture additional audio as a voice­over. If you've ever watched a video of a computer screen 
    with someone giving directions to you at the same time, you've seen a screen recording. 
    Screencast­o­Matic is a free tool that allows you to record 15 minutes of video to narrate a slide 
    show, or a powerpoint presentation. 
      
    To begin, go to:

    Step 1:

    Start Recording​
    Click ​ .

    Step 2:

    Record Screencast.​
    Click ​

    Step3:

    If this is your first time, you will be prompted to get the ​ screen recorder launcher​.
    1. Click ​ Download Launcher​ . Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the
    recorder.
    2. Start by clicking ​ Save File​ button.
    3. Go to the folder where you saved the file I​ nstallScreenRecorderLauncher-1.7.exe​ (most
    likely your downloads folder or desktop).
    4. Double-click on the file name to run the ​ launcher​ ​un​
    . Click the R button if necessary. It
    may take a minute or so to install the launcher. You will be prompted to go back to the
    Screencast-o-matic web page when the install has been completed.
    5. Click ​ Record Screencast​ again, and proceed to ​Step 4​ .

    Step 4:

    A window with a dotted line will pop up - this is your recording space. Anything that
    appears on your monitor inside this box will be recorded.
    You can resize this window by using the little squares on the sides, or in the corners:

    Step. 5:

    Decide whether you want to record the screen, the webcam, or both.
    Step. 6:

    Check to make sure your microphone is working. The green bars indicate that your mic is
    picking up audio. You can click on the microphone icon to select a different mic, if
    desired.

    Step 7:

    Record​
    Click the red ​ button to start recording.

    pause​
    Click the blue ​ button to pause or stop the recording.

    ​one​
    If you are finished recording, click D record​
    . You may also click the red ​ button again to
    trash can​
    add to your initial recording, or click the ​ icon to delete your recording and start
    over.
    Step 8:

    play​
    Press the ​ button to preview your recording.

     
     
    Step 9:

    ave as Video File.​Otherwise, click R


    If you are satisfied with your recording, click S​ ​edo​
    to
    delete your recording and start over.
    Step 10:

    Click Type to change the file type.

    Step 11:

    FLV​
    Select ​ folder​
    . Choose the ​ where you would like to save your video. Then click the
    publish​
    button.
