Course Objectives: To bring about a thorough exposure to shoring, scaffolding and formwork
procedures in construction practice by studying the materials, planning and design aspects and
erection procedures
1. To study the materials associated with formwork
2. To study the design aspects of formwork under various requirements.
3. To study the planning and erection aspects of form work
4. To study about a few special types of forms
5. To study the enabling structures and its importance.
1. Knowledge (i) To have basic knowledge of stress calculation and load carrying capacity
(ii) To have basic knowledge of structural analysis and stability of structure.
(iii) To be able to suggest suitable form work for construction site under
Consideration.
2. Skills (i) To identify the soil / plat form on which temporary support is to be supported
(ii) Apply fundamental knlowdge of structural stability while knowing strength of
material to be used , thus select suitable material for form work.
(iii) To plan and design temporary structure for construction work.

heritage investigations, Environmental approvals, Utilities isolations, Security, Role of surveyors.
Pedagogy: The teacher should have sufficient knowledge of the subject with good teaching
experience and qualification.
