As per IS 6403
For general shaer failure n n= 320 7.13
Nc = 35.49 8.2
Nq = 23.18
Ny = 30.22
Hence the soil is safe for bearing the embankment load and ground improvement is not
required
Trail 3
Assuming FOS= 2.9
nm =Tan-1((tann)/F) 12.16
Sn = C/(ϒH) = 0.0725
C= 48 Kn/sqm
ϒ = 20.2 Kn/Cum
H = 11.32 m
Fc3 = C/(Snϒ.H)
II = 2.9
Hence the critical FOS is 2.9>1.5 Hence the slope is stable
RCL = 109.5
Lowest GL = 98.18
Height of embankment 11.32 m
Locattion of centre of slip circle
As per Fellinious, The centre of slip circle is located on line joining P(4.5H, -H) where 0,0 is
location of toe point. The point Q is located with directional angles

The trail 3 has lowest FS which is critical slip circle. Whoes FS is = 2.82
Hence the proposed slope of 1.5H : 1V with proposed material is safe
As seen from the above analysis, for both the methods, FOS is 2.82 and 2.90. Hence the
proposed slope of 1.5H to 1V is safe with the proposed fill material
