1.fpso Stress Analysis
INTRODUCTION:
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ensure all pipe stress calculations are comply with engineering standard and
regulatory codes.
- Define applicable codes, technical requirements,& methods
Establish that all Stress analysis problems are properly reviewed and addressed.
identify critical lines , level of criticality and critical line list.
Inertial accelerations: Induced accelerations due to hull pitch , roll, heave motions
shall be considered in sustained stress check. - Acceleration values will be given by
structural group.
Structural deflection: structural deflections due to hull pitch , roll, heave motions,
Shall be considered and maximum displacement stress range shall be satisfied.
Deflection values will be given by structural group.
Phase difference if any between various module deflection shall be suitably considered.
Hogging and sagging : horizontal and vertical displacements due to hull deflections
shall be considered and maximum displacement stress range shall be satisfied.
Deflection values at various locations/ levels will be given by structural group.
During initial phase (preliminary) deflection values are taken as per structural design
basis but later stage these deflections values shall refined based on actual structural
design output . Input to be provided by structural .
Blast load analysis : Piping systems required to be designed for blast occurrence will
be identified by safety group (hydrocarbon, firewater piping)and blast wave over
pressure will be given.
Such piping systems and supports shall be designed (similar to wind loading) and
admissible stress limit to be assured to avoid failures and loses.
Towing condition: All piping systems shall be checked for towing state accelerations,
structural deflections and stress levels and nozzle loads shall be maintained within
allowables .Additional temporary supports to be provided , or disconnect the nozzle if
required but to be kept minimum.
