FOREWORD
As per clause 73(f) of Electricity Act 2003, Central Electricity Authority is to “promote
and assist in the timely completion of schemes and projects”. The Thermal Project Monitoring
(TPM) Division of CEA is entrusted with the responsibility of monitoring the progress of
construction/erection activities of all the thermal power projects in the country till the units are
commissioned. Visits are also made by CEA officers to the sites for assessing the on-spot
progress of works and rendering the advice/assistance in solving the problems being faced by
the project authorities, thereby helping the project authorities in avoiding/minimizing the time
and cost overruns of the thermal power projects.
In this context, Thermal Project Monitoring Division, Central Electricity Authority has
been bringing out monthly report entitled “Broad Status of Thermal Power Projects in the
Country”. This report covers up-to-date information in respect of 11th plan thermal power
projects under execution in the country. The report gives the details of the milestones achieved
as on date, along with the name, capacity, location, implementing agency, commissioning
schedule, type of fuel, construction agency, estimated cost besides highlighting critical issues
requiring immediate attention of concerned authorities in the implementation of thermal power
projects in the country.
The Broad Status Report is being brought out regularly by this division on the basis of
data forwarded by various project authorities, visits made by CEA Engineers to various power
projects, holding discussions with the executing agencies and suppliers of equipments from time
to time.
We welcome feedback for further improvement in the Broad Status Report.

Latest Status: Unit Synchronized on 04.09.13. Unit was under shutdown

for attending various commissioning problems. On 28.02.14 M/s. Cethar
Ltd again send a drawing for modification of the oil gun guide with lug
support. The burner problem remains unsolved. The basic reason is that
the burners are not supporting properly. As Full load /COD has not been
achieved within six months of synchronization as per the regulations of
Electricity Act-2003, now they have to get permission from CERC for
connectivity and after which WRLDC will give permission for re-
synchronization. CERC has given the permission to injection of infirm
power to the Grid upto 11.04.14 vide their order dated 14.03.14. V V L
has submitted the CERC order to WRLDC for permission to inject the
infirm power to the grid on 18.03.14 and got the permission from
WRLDC on 20.03.14. Now V V L is trying themselves for completing
balance work as Cethar Ltd. is not cooperating.

Critical Areas Unit-1: Completion of external CHP: Total length ~ 4km. Award is placed on Indwell by APPDCL. Indwell doing Piling works (250
piles completed). Engineering completed. Expected date of completion 04/2015.
Currently coal is coming by trucks. Road is ready. - No issues with BHEL.
Unit-2: Power evacuation: Krishnapatnam to Chittor direct line is not ready. Some towers, stringing works, ROU issues remains
towards project side. But LILO connection to this line from krishnapatnam-manubolu line is done. With these only 1200 MW can be
evacuated.
To evacuate 1600 MW Krishnapatnam to Chittor, direct line is to be made ready by resolving ROU issues.-Action by
