Lesson Plan in Mathematics 3

(Integrated with ESP, Arts, and MTB)

I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to:
a. Follow the steps in dividing whole numbers by 100;
b. Perform the operation of division;
c. Show helpfulness to one another.

II. Subject Matter

A. Topic: Dividing Whole Numbers by 100
B. Reference: Learner’s Materials pp. 194-198
LAMP Code M3NS-Ilg-41.2
C. Materials: power point presentation, roulette, diagrams, projector,
worksheets

III. Procedure
A. Preparatory Activities
1) Drill
Roll the dice. Multiply the 2 numbers that will come out from the dice.

2. Review:
Form 2 groups with 5 members each. Let each group complete by answering the
given equation. The first group to finish wins the game.

Paste these on the board. Ask the pupils to paste the strips of paper with the correct
answer inside the box.

Multiples of 100

3. Motivation (Problem Opener)

The Tulungan Credit Union granted loans of Php 5,000 to its member- farmers. If
the loans were paid by the farmers in equal monthly payments, how much would each
pay for 100 monthly payments?
B. Developmental Activities
1. Presentation

 Read
a. What is asked in the problem? How much would
each pay for 100
monthly payments?
b. What are given? Php 5,000 loan granted, 100 equal
monthly payments
c. Operation: Division

d. Mathematical Sentence: Php 5,000 ÷ 100 = N

e. Answer: Php 50.00

Long Method

 Step 1.

a. Divide: 500 ÷ 100 = 5

b. Multiply: 5 x 100 = 500

c.Subtract: 500 – 500 = 0

 Step 2

d. Bring down 0

e. Divide: 0 ÷ 100 = 0

f. Multiply: 0 x 100 = 0
g. Subtract: 0–0= 0

Shortcut Method

 Cancel 2 zeros.
5, 0 0 0 ÷ 1 0 0 = 50

Remember: Cancel the same number of zeros from the dividend and the divisor.
Other examples: Cancel zeros from both dividend and the divisor.
a) 4, 2 0 0 ÷ 1 0 0 = 42 c) 3, 9 0 0 ÷ 1 0 0 = 39

b)7, 8 0 0 ÷ 1 0 0 = 78 d) 8, 0 0 0 ÷ 1 0 0 = 80
2. Guided Practice
a. Follow the number paths. Work in pairs. (Stress the value of helpfulness.)
1. START ÷100
300 ?
X 10

2. START
X100
?
700 ÷100

3. START
X10
2000 ?
÷100

4. START
X10
8000 ?
÷100
5. START
÷100
7000 ?
÷10

b. Work in Group (3 groups)

SPOT THE QUOTIENTS
Directions: Solve then encircle the answer in the box. ( 2 minutes)
The answers may go down, backward, across, and diagonally.

2. 9500 ÷ 100 (color pink)
3. 4000 ÷ 100 (color green)
4. 6300 ÷ 100 (color blue)
5. 2000 ÷ 100 (color red)
3. Generalization
How do we divide whole numbers by 100?
 To divide whole numbers by 100, cancel the same number of zeros in both the
dividend and the divisor.
 Divide.

C.Application
A. Find the quotient. Cancel the correct number of zeros.
1. 400 ÷ 100 4. 9, 300 ÷ 100
2. 1, 800 ÷ 100 5. 6, 200 ÷ 100
3. 2, 900 ÷ 100

IV. Evaluation
A. Give the missing number.
1) 6500 ÷ 100 = ____ 4) 1, 800 ÷ ____ = 18
2) 7, 800 ÷ _____ = 78 5) 2, 000 ÷ 100 = ____
3) 3, 500 ÷ 100 = ____

V. Assignment
Divide mentally. Write the quotients.
1) 6, 300 ÷ 100 4) 5, 400 ÷ 100
2) 4, 800 ÷ 100 5) 6, 300 ÷ 100
3) 3, 600 ÷ 100
