ANNUAL SPORTS REPORT
Highly esteemed presiding celebrity of this function Mr.U.Prakash, Board

Member, K.C.S. Kasi Nadar College of Arts & Science. Our Chief Guest Mr.K. Joshi
Nirmal Kumar ,I.P.S., Joint Commissioner of Police-North. Beloved Patron, Board
Members, Members of the Management Committee, highly esteemed members of
S.V.H.N.A. Dharma Fund, Principal i/c, Invitees, Dedicated Staff, and my dear
students. I feel honoured to present the sports report for the academic years 2015 -
2017.
Physical exercises help us to keep ourselves fit. Sports and games develop
sportive spirit and lay the foundation for the future.
It also helps us to be active both physically and mentally. Therefore our college
curriculum gives distinct place to sports and games. We have many internationally
familiar games like Athletics, Badminton, Carrom, Chess, Cricket, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho,
Handball, Volley Ball and Table Tennis.
I am pleased to present to you the scroll of achievements of our college in

Sports. Our College represents ‘University of Madras’ inter-collegiate tournament in
various games at the State and National level. Our college students have excelled in all
indoor and outdoor games held periodically.
They have participated in various Inter-Collegiate games such as Athletics,

Badminton, Chess, Cricket, Kho-Kho and Handball in the year 2016-2017.
I am happy to announce that our college students R.B.Chandrahassan of III

BCA ‘B’ and V.Sathish of III BCA ‘B’ have been selected for the University of
Madras ‘B’ Zone (Men) team of Handball in the year 2015-2016. In the 2 nd
Chev.Dr.N.R. Dhanapalan State Open Inter- Collegiate Athletic Meet 2016 organised
by Annai Violet College of Arts & Science, N.Deepak of II B.Com ‘B’ secured III
Place in 1500 mts Race and was awarded Rs.500/- cash prize in the meet.
In Athletics our athletes brought laurels to our college by winning medals in the
Thiruvallur District Junior Athletics Championship (Men) held at SDAT ground at
Thiruvallur on 23rd and 24th July 2016. S.Gopi of III B.Sc (CS) B got 1st place in 100
mts, M.Ajith of III B.Sc (CS) B won 2nd place in 100 mts, M.R.Poomugilan of III
B.Com (CS) won the 1st place in 200mts, S.Manikandan of III B.Sc (CS) B won the
1st place in Triple Jump, N.Deepak of II B.Com B got 2nd place in 5000 mts, and
D.Mohanraj of I B.Com A won the 3rd place in Triple Jump,
The Chess (Men) team secured 14th place in the ‘B’ Zone tournament.
The Badminton (Men) team got placed in the top 8 among a total of 36 colleges
which participated in the ‘B’ Zone tournament.
The Handball (Men) team secured third place in the ‘B’ Zone tournament.
R.B.Chandrahassan of III B.C.A ‘B’, V.Sathish of III B.C.A ‘B’, K.Jeeva of
III BBA and S.Jai Ganesh of III BBA have been selected for the University of
Madras ‘B’ Zone Handball team and they participated in the University inter-zone
tournament.
The Chess (Women) team secured 14th place among a total of 30 colleges which
participated in the ‘B’ Zone tournament.
The Cricket (Men) team got a place in the top 16 in the ‘B’ Zone tournament.
R.Mohammed Arafath of III B.Com A and G.Dinesh of III B.C.A., ‘B’ have been
selected for the University of Madras ‘B’ Zone Cricket team and participated in the
University inter-zone tournament.
S. Manikandan of III B.Sc (CS) B and B.Adhithyan of II B.A.,(English)

have been selected for the University of Madras ‘B’ Zone Kho-Kho team and
participated in the University inter-zone tournament.
In Athletics our athletes brought laurels to our college by winning medals in the
49th Dr. Sir. A.Lakshmanaswamy Mudaliar Athletic meet- 2016 through B-Zone (Men)
held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai, on 13 th, 14th and 15th December 2016.
N.Deepak of II B.Com‘B’ won the 2nd place in 5000 mts and 10000 mts,
M.R.Poomugilan of III B.Com(CS), S.Gopi of III B.Sc (CS) ‘B’, M.Ajith of III
B.Sc (CS) ‘B’, and P.Aravinthsamy of I B.Com ‘A’ won the 2nd place in 4 X 400 mts
relay.
In the 3rd Chev.Dr.N.R. Dhanapalan State open Inter- Collegiate Athletic Meet
2017 organised by Annai Violet College of Arts & Science L.Monish of I BBA
secured III place in 5000 mts race and was awarded Rs.500/- cash prize.
I extend my sincere thanks to our Presiding Celebrity, Our Special Guest, Our
Patron, Board Members, Members of the college Management Committee and the
Members of S.V.H.N.A. Dharma Fund, our Principal i/c, Faculty members, Sports
Committee members and dear students especially the NSS Volunteers for making the
Sports Day a spectacular success.
I am delighted over the successful conduct of the Sports Day this year. I extend
my sincere thanks to our college management for their kind patronage and
encouragement. Our college believes that a sound body makes a sound mind and our
Department of Physical Education has been doing its best with that objective.
As the Director of our Physical Education Department, I convey my thanks to

those who are involved for their assistance and co-operation extended to me towards
organising this year’s Sports Day successfully.
Finally, my grateful thanks to all others who strengthened my hands in making

this year’s Annual Sports Day, a thundering success.
