BIO CLIMATIC TOWER COLLEGE:SOA,AMACE

1
1) WHAT IS A BIO CLIMATIC TOWER ..?
• Architecture that has a connection to Nature. Building designs that take into account climate
and environmental conditions to help achieve optimal thermal comfort inside.
• It deals with design and architectural elements, avoiding complete dependence on
mechanical systems, which are regarded as support.
• A good example of this is using natural ventilation or mixed mode ventilation.

2) FEATURES OF BIO CLIMATIC TOWER:

• Consider weather, ecosystems, and hydrography of the environment to maximize
performance and lessen overall impact
• Leverage wind and sunlight patterns
• Use locally sourced building materials
• Utilize low-impact construction techniques
• Reduce energy consumption for heating, cooling, lighting, and equipment
• Minimize overall energy balance throughout construction and during use

3) AIM:
• They aim to be comfortable and aesthetically pleasing by using solar energy and other
eco-friendly sources.
• To create a vertical city based on idea of vertical mixed use.
• The design is to create a mixed use tower with residence, commercial and few retails

4) OBJECTIVE:
• To check the perfect zoning for mixed use tower,
• To create a well defined spaces based on user groups like both commercial and
residence spaces,
• To use materials ,energy, development spaces and ecosystem in modernized form,
• To create an iconic structure in that particular skyline.

5) SCOPE:
• Creates a unique world in a single plot area,
• This results in the economic growth and reduce the usage of cars in Mumbai and also
help in maintaining the quality of air quality index(aqi),
• Since it is a mixed use project there is a less usage of land cover,
• To implement this idea in India and to improve the skyline of Mumbai,
• It creates a mixed culture in our site.

6) THRUST AREA:
BIO CLIMATIC TOWER:
• Architecture that has a connection to nature. Building designs that take into
account
climate and environmental conditions to help achieve optimal thermal comfort
inside,
• It deals with design and architectural elements, avoiding complete dependence on
mechanical systems, which are regarded as support.

2
7) ELEMENTS OF DESIGN:
• Active solar architecture,
• Passive solar architecture,
• Renewable energy,
• Sustainable architecture,
• Self sufficient house.

8) DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GREEN ARCHITECTURE AND BIO CLIMATIC ARCHITECTURE:

• Green architecture typically focuses on using recyclable materials, renewable energies, and
minimizing wastes and energy consumption.
• Bioclimatic architecture deals with biological and climatic aspects such as thermal comfort
and some passive design strategies.

14) QUESTIONS:
What:
Vertical mixed use tower based on climatic tower concept.

Why:
The most successful and needful structure in future, which will create a futuristic typed
design. Where there is a need of vertical mixed use.

Where:
This typology will be developed in India's best skyline of Mumbai.

How:
This will include sustainable materials, roof design, thermal mass(light weight construction
materials, building form ,orientation ,landscaping and shading, ventilation
glazing and windows.

Who:
Here the people who lives in this residential complex and surrounding area nearly .5
kms will be benefited Because of commercial use and for climate adopting tower.

When:
This structure can/should be build within 4-5 yrs for effective usage which will prevent
from hazardous gases.

AIR QUALITY INDEX- REASON FOR MUMBAI

Aqi represents the air quality in particular area.
The highest aqi shows the negative growth of plants in which bio climatic tower doesn’t suits.

Proof:gurgaon bio climatic tower failure.

15) AIR QUALITY INDEX OF METROPOLITAN CITIES:
