MY SAINT PADRE PIO PRAYER BOOKLET

“Pray, Hope and Don’t Worry.”

O Mary, sweetest Mother of priests,
Mediatrix and administratrix of all graces, I pray to
Thee from the depths of my heart; I beg and entreat
Thee to thank, today, tomorrow and always, Jesus,
the Fruit of Thy womb. -St. Padre Pio
WORDS FROM SAINT PADRE PIO
I belong to everyone and everyone can say “Padre
Pio is mine.
”Prayer is the best weapon we have; it is a key that
opens God’s heart. You must speak to Jesus, not
only with your lips, but also with your heart;
actually, on certain occasions, you should speak
with only your heart.
O Mary, sweetest Mother of priests,
mediatrix and administratrix of all graces, I pray to
Thee from the depths of my heart; I beg and entreat
Thee to thank, today, tomorrow and always, Jesus,
the Fruit of Thy womb.
Mary’s blessed soul, like a dove set free, disengaged
from her saintly body, flew straight to the bosom of
Her Beloved. Jesus, who was reigning in Heaven
with the most holy humanity which He had received
from the womb of the Virgin, also wanted that His
Mother be reunited to Him, not only with her soul,
but also with her body, and that she share in the
fullness of His glory.
And that was right and dutiful. That body, which had
never been the slave of the devil, nor of sin, not even
for a moment, could not become the slave of
deterioration either.
Always be faithful in keeping your promises to God,
and don’t worry about the mockery of fools. You
may be sure that the saints have always scorned the
world and everything mundane.
St. Padre Pio of Pietrelcina`s Efficacious Novena to
the Sacred Heart of Jesus
I. O my Jesus, Thou hast said: “Truly I say to
you, ask and it will be given you, seek and
you will find, knock and it will be opened to
you.” Behold I knock, I seek and ask for the
grace of ...
Our Father ... Hail Mary ... Glory be to the
Father...
Sacred Heart of Jesus. I place all my trust in
Thee.
II. O my Jesus, Thou hast said: “Truly I say to
you, if you ask anything of the Father in My
name, He will give it to you. “Behold, in Thy
name, I ask the Father for the grace of ...
Our Father ... Hail Mary ... Glory be to the
Father...
Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in
Thee.
III. O my Jesus, Thou hast said: Truly I say
to you, heaven and earth will pass away
but My words will not pass away.
Encouraged by Thy infallible words I now
ask for the grace of ...Our Father ... Hail
Mary ... Glory be to the Father ...Sacred
Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in Thee.
IV. O Sacred Heart of Jesus, for whom it is
impossible not to have compassion on the
afflicted, have pity on us miserable sinners
and grant us the grace which we ask of
Thee,
Through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of
Mary, Thy tender Mother and ours.
Say the Hail, Holy Queen and add: St. Joseph, foster
father of Jesus, pray for us.

N.B. This novena prayer was recited every day by

Padre Pio for all those who asked his prayers. The
faithful are invited to recite it daily, so as to be
spiritually united with the prayer of Padre Pio.
Novena to Saint Pio of Pietrelcina
September 14 to 22, in preparation for the feast of
Saint Padre Pio, September 23
First DAY
Beloved St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you have had the
signs of the Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ on
your body. You have carried this stigmata for
everyone, enduring both the physical and mental
sufferings that racked your soul and body in a
continual sacrifice. We beg you to pray for us, so
that we will be able to accept both the little and the
larger crosses we too must bear during our life on
earth and to offer these sufferings to God, assuring
us a place with him in Eternal Life. “It is to your
advantage to commit yourself to the sufferings that
Jesus will send to you. Jesus cannot tolerate seeing
you afflicted and he will come to you and comfort
you, blessing you with many graces for your soul”.
-Padre Pio

SACRED HEART

Second DAY
Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, together with Our Lord
Jesus Christ, you’ve been able to withstand the
temptations of the Devil. You suffered the beatings
and the oppression of the demon of hell, who wanted
to have you abandon your journey of holiness. We
beg you to pray for us so that, with your help and the
help of all of the Heavenly Kingdom, we will be
able to find the strength to set sin aside and to
persevere in our faith until the day of our death.“
Have courage and do not fear the assaults of the
Devil. Remember this forever; it is a healthy sign if
the devil shouts and roars around your conscience,
since this shows that he is not inside your will”.
-Padre Pio

SACRED HEART
Third DAY
Virtuous St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you love Our Holy
Mother very much and have received daily graces
and consolations from her. Please, we beg you to
pray to the Holy Mother for us. Place in her hands
the sorrow for our sins and our prayers of reparation,
so that, as at Cana of Galilee, her Son says ‘yes’ to
His Mother and our name may be written in the
Book of Eternal Life.“ Mary has to be the star that
illuminates your path and she will show you the
secure way to go to the Celestial Father. She will be
an anchor to which you must cling in the hour of
temptation”. -Padre Pio

Fourth DAY
Chaste St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you loved your
Guardian Angel, who served you well as your guide
and as a defender and messenger. The Angels
brought the prayers of your spiritual children to you.
We beg you to pray for us, so that we may learn to
call on our Guardian Angel who is always ready to
guide us to what is good and to avoid falling into
sinful actions.“ Invoke your Guardian Angel, who
will enlighten you and guide you. God has given
him to you for your protection; therefore, you should
use him accordingly”. -Padre Pio

Fifth DAY
Prudent St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you have had a great
devotion for the Souls in Purgatory for whom you
have offered yourself as a victim to remit their
punishments. Please pray for us and ask God to send
us the same interest, compassion and love that you
have for these souls. In this way, we will also
contribute to reducing their suffering and, with our
sacrifices and prayers, win for them their necessary
Indulgences. “
My God, I beg you; let me bear the punishments that
have been prepared for sinners and the souls in
Purgatory.
Multiply these punishments for me, so that you may
forgive and save the sinners and free their souls from
purgatory”.
-Padre Pio

SACRED HEART
Sixth DAY
Obedient St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you have loved the
sick more than yourself, because you were able to
see Jesus in them. You have performed many
miracles by healing patients in the name of Jesus and
thereby giving them peace of mind. We beg you to
pray for us, so that sick patients, through the
intercession of Mary, can be healed and their bodies
restored so that they may benefit from the Holy
Spirit and, therefore, thank and praise God forever.
“If I knew that a person was afflicted in his mind,
body or soul, I would beg God to set him free of his
affliction. I would gladly accept the transfer of his
affliction to myself, so that he may be saved, and I
would ask that he benefit from the fruits of these
sufferings... if the Lord would allow me to do it”.
-Padre Pio
RECITE THE EFFACIOUS NOVENA TO THE
SACRED HEART

Seventh DAY
Blessed St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you have worked in
“God’s Plan for Salvation”, by offering your
sufferings to free sinners from the chains of the
Devil. We beg you to pray for us, so that unbelievers
will be converted to the faith, that all sinners will
repent in their hearts and that those with lukewarm
hearts will find renewed enthusiasm for a Christian
life. Finally, pray for all those who are faithful, so
that they will persevere on their way to salvation. If
the people of the World could only see the beauty of
one’s soul when it is in the grace of God, all sinners
and unbelievers of this world would be instantly
converted”. -Padre Pio
RECITE THE EFFACIOUS NOVENA TO THE
SACRED HEART
Eighth DAY
Pure St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you experienced great
love for your spiritual children and have helped them
by purchasing them for Christ with the giving of
your blood. Please grant us, who have not met you
personally, the opportunity to be considered your
spiritual children. In this way, with your protection,
guidance and strength, you will obtain for us a
special blessing from God, so that we may meet Him
on the day of our death at the gates of Heaven. “It
would be most fulfilling, if God would grant me just
one wish (if it were possible); that He would say,
“Enter Heaven!” This is my one true wish; “That
God would take me to Heaven at the same time that
the last of my children and the last of the people who
submitted to my priestly care have entered”. Padre
Pio

SACRED HEART
Ninth DAY
Humble St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you who loved the
Roman Catholic Church, pray for us. May the
Master send workers to the harvest and give them
the strength and knowledge needed to be children of
God. Pray that Our Holy Lady will unite Christian
people everywhere, comforting all of them in one
great house of the Lord, the lighthouse of our
salvation in the storm of life... just as a lighthouse is
a beacon for safe return when there is a storm at
sea.“ You must always keep yourself on the straight
and narrow path in the Holy Catholic Church
because she is the only Bride of Christ and can bring
you peace. She alone possesses Jesus in the Blessed
Sacrament, who is the true Prince of Peace”. - Padre

Prayer of Padre Pio after Communion

Stay with me, Lord, for it is necessary to have you

present so that I do not forget you. You know how
easily I abandon you.
Stay with me, Lord, because I am weak and I need
your strength, that I may not fall so often.
Stay with me, Lord, for you are my life, and without
You, I am without fervor.
Stay with me, Lord, for you are my light, and
without You, I am in darkness.
Stay with me, Lord, to show me your will.
Stay with me, Lord, so that I hear your voice and
follow you.
Stay with me, Lord, for I desire to love you very
much, and always be in Your Company.
Stay with me, Lord, if you wish me to be faithful to
you.
Stay with me, Lord, for as poor as my soul is, I want
it to be a place of consolation for you, a nest of love.
Stay with me, Jesus, for it is getting late and the day
is coming to a close, and life passes; death,
judgment, eternity approaches. It is necessary to
renew my strength, so that I will not stop along the
way and for that, I need you. It is getting late and
death approaches, I fear the darkness, the
temptations, the dryness, the cross, the sorrows.
O how I need you, my Jesus, in this night of exile!
Stay with me tonight, Jesus, in life with all its
dangers. I need you.
Let me recognize you as your disciples did at the
breaking of the bread, so that the Eucharistic
Communion be the Light which disperses the
darkness, the force which sustains me, the unique
joy of my heart.
Stay with me, Lord, because at the hour of my death,
I want to remain united to you, if not by
communion, at least by grace and love.

Stay with me, Jesus, I do not ask for divine

consolation, because I do not merit it, but the gift of
Your Presence, oh yes, I ask this of You!
Stay with me, Lord, for it is you alone I look for,
Your Love, Your Grace, Your Will, Your Heart, and
Your Spirit because I love you and ask no other
reward but to love you more and more.
With a firm love, I will love you with all my heart
while on earth and continue to love you perfectly
during all eternity. Amen.

Prayer for the Intercession of St. Pio of Pietrelcina

(by † Pope St. John Paul II)

Padre Pio,
Teach us too,
We pray, humility,
That we may be counted among the
Humble, of heart in the Gospel,
To whom, the Father promised,
To reveal the mysteries,
Of His Kingdom.
Obtain for us an expression,
Of faith, capable of recognizing Jesus,
In the faces of the poor and suffering.
Sustain us, during our times of
Trial and struggle and,
Should we fall,
Let us experience, the
Joy of forgiveness in the
Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Teach us tender devotion towards Mary,
Mother of Christ and our Mother.
Accompany us on our earthly pilgrimage,
Towards the blessed Homeland,
Where we, too, hope to arrive,
To contemplate eternally,
The glory of the
Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
(Pope St. John Paul II recited this prayer on the
occasion of the canonization of Padre Pio, June 16,
2002.)
THE LIFE OF PADRE PIO
Padre Pio was born of simple, hardworking farming
people on May 25, 1887, in Pietrelcina,
Southern Italy. He was tutored privately until his
entry into the novitiate of the Capuchin Friars at the
age of 15. Of feeble health but strong will, with
the help of grace he completed the required
studies and was ordained a priest in1910.On
September 20, 1918, the five wounds of Our
Lord’s Passion appeared on his body, making him
the first stigmatized priest in the history of the
Church. Countless numbers were attracted to his
confessional and many more received his saintly
counsel and spiritual guidance through
correspondence. His whole life was marked by
long hours of prayer and continual austerity. His
letters to his spiritual directors reveal the ineffable
sufferings, physical and spiritual, which
accompanied him all through life. They also
reveal his very deep union with God, his
burning love for the Blessed Eucharist and Our
Blessed Lady. Worn out by over half a century
of intense suffering and constant apostolic
activity in San Giovanni Rotondo, he was called
to his Heavenly reward on September 23, 1968.
After a public funeral which attracted almost
100,000, his body was entombed in the crypt of Our
Lady of Grace Church.

Increasing numbers flock to his tomb from all parts

of the world and many testify to spiritual and
temporal graces received.

The Diocesan Process for Padre Pio’s Beatification

was concluded in the shrine of Our Lady of Grace on
January 21, 1990 and consigned to the
Congregation for the Causes of Saints on
February 12, 1990.His Holiness Pope St. John Paul
II beatified Padre Pio on May 2, 1999 and canonized
him on June 16, 2002.
