Grade Level: 7 Learning Area: Mathematics Quarter: II Duration: 60 minutes
Learning Area/s Integrated: Science and TLE
Integration Approach Used:
Multidisciplinary Interdisciplinary Transdisciplinary
*Theme-based & Learning Centers
Knowledge discuss the steps on how to plot the equation of the circle
2. (𝑥 + 4)2 + (𝑦 + 9)2 = 82
3. (𝑥 + 3)2 + (𝑦 + 5)2 = 62
4. (𝑥 − 4)2 + (𝑦 + 2)2 = 52
5. (𝑥 − 6)2 + (𝑦 + 5)2 = 42
B. Motivation
ASK:
1. What are the coordinates of the equation of the circle?
2. How did you get those coordinates?
3. Why do we need to find the coordinates in plotting the equation of the circle?
A. Skill Preparation
2. Explore
The teacher will group the class in to 4 groups. Each group will have a problem which they will
illustrate those equation in the graphing papers.
Each group will brainstorm their understanding regarding in the equation of the circle. They will
think the different problem in real life situation that is related in locating the area or direction. The
group will accept the ideas and opinions in their classmates. Each group will select one
representative to discuss the problem.
The teacher will let the student to explore their unique ideas in illustrating the equation of the
circle with the problems given to each group.
3. Explain ASK:
1. What are the coordinates and the radius in group 1,2,3, and 4?
2. How do you formulate those coordinates (h,K) and the radius?
3. In what way did you find the coordinates and the radius?
4. How important those coordinates in plotting the equation of the circle
5. Can you illustrate the equation of the circle using those respectively coordinates and the
radius?
4.Elaborate Read the situation below and answer the following problem.
(8 minutes)
Mount Mayon, an active volcano has a 10km danger zone located at (1,-2). Zabby resides at a
coordinate of A(-4,-9).
ASK:
1. Is Zabby still covered by the 10km danger zone?
2. If she is still covered by the 10km danger zone, at what coordinate she need to go for
evacuation, is it (7,-10) or (-2,-12? Calculate the distance of each point from the center.
3. What is the equation of the circle?
5. Evaluate Evaluation:
(5 minutes)
Direction: Illustrate the standard form of equation of the given circle.
1. The center is at (-1,3) and radius is 2.
2. The center is (2,-3) and radius is 5.
3. The center is at the origin and radius is 3.
4. The center is (-1,2) and passes through the point (3,4)
