RATIONALE:
Every individual has the right to adequate food. Thus, it is the responsibility of the state to ensure the food security of its
people. Where hunger is prevalent, it is also a development issue hindering economic growth and keeping millions
trapped in poverty. Philippine economy has been growing, but perennial poverty and income inequality remain as major
challenges. The upward trend in the economic growth has not translated to better and equitable social outcomes,
particularly for health status.
The Philippines is committed to eradicate all forms of human deprivation, including hunger and poverty, by 2030 through
the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Provincial Government of Davao Oriental has been focusing on the
eradication of Malnutrition in the province yet the Municipality of Boston has been constantly on the first spot with 7.6 %
having the highest number of malnourished children aged 6 – 71 months. This program aims to end all forms of
malnutrition in the municipality by continuously feeding the targeted population.
OBJECTIVE:
1. Strengthen the municipal nutrition program together with the barangay nutrition scholars for proper documentation
and assessment and conduct rapid nutritional assessment.
2. Conduct 6 months feeding program to 8 barangays to targeted population, and to ensure provision and
distribution of nutritionally adequate foods for vulnerable groups.
3. Conduct Baseline data on OPT before and after the feeding session to ensure quality data among targeted
clients.
METHODOLOGY:
Three Months continuous feeding program to be conducted to 8 barangays by the Barangay Nutrition Scholars together
with the Rural Health Midwives. This programs aims to achieve zero malnutrition rate of the Municipality. The program will
commence in October – December 2019.
