I. OBJECTIVES At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
1. demonstrate and explain the concept of uniform circular motion applying
Newton’s Laws of motion.
A. Content Standards The learners demonstrate an understanding of Newton’s three laws of motion and uniform circular motion.
B. Performance Standards The learners shall be able to develop a written plan and implement a “Newton’s Olympics”.

C. Learning Competencies/Objectives The learners should be able to investigate the relationship between the amount of force applied and the mass
of the object to the amount of change in the object’s motion

III. LEARNING RESOURCES
A. References
1. Teacher’s Guide pages
2. Learner’s Material pages Pages 17-18
3. Textbook pages Exploring Life through Science 8 page 20-22

IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting the new lesson What are the three (3) Newton’s Laws of motion?
B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson Have you tried riding a swing carousel?
C. Presenting examples/instances of the new lesson What do you think will happen if one of the rope was torn?

D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #1 Students will form a circle. Call one of them to whirl an object tied to a string horizontally on the
E. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #2 floor. Then let the others observe what will happen if you release the object. How does the object
travel after release?
F. Developing mastering UNIFORM CIRCULAR MOTION
(Leads to Formative Assessment 3) – is a motion in a circle at a constant speed.
An object undergoing uniform circular motion is moving with a constant speed. Nonetheless, it is
accelerating due to its change in direction. The direction of the acceleration is inwards.

Centripetal Force – is the force needed for an object to move in circular motion.
G. Finding practical applications of concepts and skills in daily living The planets that revolve around the sun and the satellites orbiting the
H. Making generalizations and abstractions about the lesson earth have motions that are nearly uniform circular motion.

I. Evaluating learning MODIFIED TRUE OR FALSE: Write TRUE if the statement is correct, if false, change the
underlined word/s.
1. Uniform circular motion is a motion in a circle at a constant speed. TRUE
2. An object undergoing uniform circular motion is moving with a constant speed.
TRUE
3. The force needed for an object to move in circular motion is Centripetal force. TRUE
4. The direction of the acceleration in Uniform circular motion is outward. INWARD
5. An object in circular is said to be accelerating due to its change in direction. TRUE
