Network Engineer
Job description
We are looking for a Network Engineer that can thrive in a challenging and rewarding environment. As a
Network Engineer, you understand the issues involved with administering and maintaining corporate
infrastructures, including network connectivity, internet access, mail, DNS, advanced network
architecture, LAN/WAN, UPS systems, Cisco routers, Cisco switches, vlans, routing protocols, sub-
netting, TCP/IP, OSPF, EIGRP, bgp and QoS. In addition, the Network Engineer will participate with the
installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and
communication links. This individual will also analyze and resolve network hardware and software
problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide training to colleagues/customers where
required. Strong customer communication skill is required.
Responsibilities:
Strategy & Planning
Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping,
processes, and service records, using MS Office products like Word and Visio
Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network
administration, usage, and disaster recovery. Acquisition & Deployment
Deploy LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including, routers, hubs, switches, WAN-accelerators and
other hardware.
Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of
developments in the networking industry.
Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades. Operational Management
Configure networks (LAN/WAN) to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business
objectives and processes.
Monitor network stability, availability and performance.
Identify, diagnose and resolve network problems as needed.
Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of customer's hardware and
software.
Ensure network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, fax machines, and
other network appliances.
Provide third and fourth-tier support for networks and on a lower level for systems, databases and
applications.
Automate tasks as much as possible through the development of scripts and our proprietary IP
automata Framework
Identify, evaluate and recommend network related tools and emerging network technologies.
Ensuring 24x7x365 operation of internal and client systems.
Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and
related documentation and technical specifications information.
Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
Participate in managing all network security solutions.
Provide guidance to (junior) members of the team.
Preferred
Working knowledge of proxy servers
Knowledge about- and experience with network monitoring tools
Knowledge about ITIL
Experience with scripting languages like Perl and Expect is a plus
Expertise in non-Cisco platforms, such as HP Procurve, Bluecoat, Brocade is a plus
