and skills in daily living Radio Waves-can be found on the left part of the electromagnetic spectrum. It is the EM
wave with the longest wavelength, but they are low in frequency thereby carrying the
lowest energy.

Characteristics
Not line of sight
Can pass through walls
Longer range
Not light sensitive
Disadvantage
Communication devices that make use of the same frequencies interfere
transmission
It is easier to “eavesdrop” since signals transmitted in space rather than wire

more costly than infrared.
abstractions about the
lesson Microwaves- are applied in so many ways from texting to cooking, and to communications
to the rest of the world.
Applications of Microwaves
1. Satellite Communications 2. Radars 3. TV Transmission 4. Microwave Oven
How a microwave oven cook food inside it?
1. A part of the oven produces microwaves.
2. The microwaves are sent to the reflecting fan.
3. The microwaves are reflected in many directions by the fan and the walls of the
microwave oven.
4. As microwaves pass through the food, they transfer energy to the water molecules in the
form of heat. This will cook the food.

EVALUATE
Guide Question:
1. Can radio waves pass through walls? Why? (answer would vary)
2. Can micro waves pass through walls? Why? (answer would vary)
