Three most important rules for


chanting Hare Kåñëa
Our spiritual practice should nourish us, it should supply us with a
taste that is better than the taste that material activities and sense gra-
tification provide us with. When our spiritual practice lacks this taste,
the temptation of material life which then allures us with a seemingly
greater taste is always close to us. And at that time we are in danger.
However, if we can find taste in our spiritual practice we are safe on
the spiritual platform.

The chanting of the Holy Names is recommended as the main practi-


ce in the present time period, the age of Kali. Thus we need to find
out how we can actually experience superior, spiritual taste from it.

letting go, your chanting will be very effective. You will experience a
taste that is better than that of the material energy with all its varieties
of sense gratification like entertainment, food, etc. You will be alive
and spiritually invigorated.

Two Foundations
of a Guru-Disciple-
Relationship
There are two elements that have to come together for a healthy and
responsible relationship between guru and disciple. The first element
is that the disciple needs to be free of the motive to improve him- or
herself materially by this relationship. The second element is spiritual

The first element presupposes a sense of exhaustion with material


illusions. The disciple needs to understand: “I need solutions to over-
come material illusions. I understand that I can’t be happy in the material
