CEMENT BOARD
The Earth Friendly Board

VIVA WOOD CEMENT BOARD is manufactured from wood, cement and mineralising
agent. The combination of these raw materials resulted in a board with unique properties not
found in other board materilas. Viva board has benefit of properties of cement, that is, it is
extremely durable, resistanto weathering, fungus, moisture, termite and fire. It also has the
benefit of wood as it is worable with most wood working equipment.

FIXING AND MOUNTING
VIVA BOARD can be mounted by using screws, nails, staples or adhesive. The recommended fixing centers for nail and
screw are as show.
Edge distance can be reduced if pre-drilled holes are used or when using self-drilling screws or compressed air nailing
tools.

NAILING STAPLING
Panels up to 12mm thickness may be nailed VIVA BOARD can be fixed to timer frames
without pre-drilling. For a board thickness by using compressed air driven staples.
above 12mm, a pilot hole of 80% of nail
diameter must be pre-drilling through. Length
of the nail should be approximately 3 times
the thickness of the board

SCREWING BONDING
When normal wood construction screws are When glueing VIVA BOARD, use only alkali
used, a pre-drill of hole size. To 80% of the resistant adhesives. These including
shank size is necessary. The length of the polyurethane or epoxy resine base
screws should be approximately three times
the board thickness. Self drilling, self
embedding head screws can be used with
powered screw-drivers without pre-drilling

JOINTS
The Choice and method of joint details will depend on several factors including
- Application
- Location (internal or external)
- Board thickness
- Surface finishing required
In order to allow board movements caused by moisture and temperature, a gap of 3mm between boards should be allowed
when used in internal application and larger gap of 5-6mm in external application.

SURFACE FINISHING
VIVA BOARD can be subjected to various types of surface treatment on finishing. However, owing to its alkaline content,
it is recommended that the board be primed with an anti-alkali premier, before a finishing coat of paint is applied.

PAINTING FILLING
VIVA BOARD can be Screw and nail holes,
coated with a wide rang damaged or uneven joints
of paint these include: can easily remedied with
- Emulsion paint proprietary filler
- Gloss paint
- Polyurethane (PU)
- Polyester
- Epoxy

LAMINATION
WALL PAPER
VIVA BOARD Can be decorated with vinyl or conventional wallpaper by using
appropriate adhesive. When applying overlays, it is recommended that the board
balanced by applying a compensation laminated or coat with primer on the
undercoated side. To avoid crack at joints, usage of glass fiber reinforced or cellular
rubber wallpaper is recommended.
TILLING
Ceramic tiles and mosaics can be bonded to VIVA BOARD using recommended
adhesives. A coat of primer must always be applied on the reverse side.

STORAGE AND HANDLING

HANDLING
Avoid lifting the VIVA board from both ends of
short edge. To prevent excessive flexing of the
board, the board be lifted by sliding sideways from
the stack and lifting on the edge

TRANSPORTATION

It is recommended to strap the VIVA BOARD together preferably on a wooden pallet when transporting. When strapping,
edge protection should be provided to ensure that the board edges are not damage. The boards should be protected against
moisture during transportation. This is done by covering thenm with trpaulin or canvas shsst.

STORAGE
Indivdual sheets should not transported or stored upright.
The board should be stored by laying them horizontally on pallets
or beams with sufficient support to avoid sagging
The board mush be protected from the effect of weather with
protective covering sheets
In case the board are accidentially exposed to water, they should be
allowed to dry individually before restacking

FIRE PROTECTION
Owing to its high cement content, VIVA BOARD is resistant to fire. VIVA BOARD has been tested and passed BS 476
part 5, 6, and 7 and it is classified as a class 0 material under the British Building Regulation.
VIVA BOARD can also be used for fire rated walls. Tests conducted on a cement board with similar properties indicate the

APPLICATIONS
CEILINGS
VIVA BOARD owing to its various unique properties is and ideal material for ceiling especially in wet area or where fire
resistance is required.
VIVA BOARD is classified as a Class 0 material and is resistant to rot, terminates and fungus. Its surface can easily be coated
with any finishes.
VIVA BOARD – Has smooth surfaces on both sides, VIVA BOARD is available from thickness of 6mm to 24mm. For
standard ceiling applications, 6mm and 8mm is generally being used. For specific applications, thicket boards can be specified

NAILED-ON CEILING
VIVA BOARD can be fixed directly to timber or steel joist. The joist The gap between the panel should be between

VIVA BOARD can be fixed using galvanized round wire

nails or self-drilling, self-embedding heads screws.
In area of high humidity, boards primed on both sides are
recommended

T-BAR CEILING (SUSPENDED CEILING)

Cut t to size VIVA BOARD can be placed directly, to suspended aluminum grid. The maximum panel size recommended for
this application is 600x1200mm. Larger panels may be used, but additional support or stiffening is necessary.
Exposed suspension system should consist of main T-section, fixed at a maximum of 1200 centers supported by 19mm x
19mm galvanized wire hangers. Cross T section can then be fitted into position.
It is recommended that for this application the boards should be primed at both sides and the edges before installation.

SPANDREL WALL AND FIRE STOP FOR CURTAIN WALL

The fire resistant properties and easy workability of VIVA

BOARD make it an ideal material for use as Spandrel Wall and
Fire Stop in applications where curtain wall is used. VIVA
BOARD has passed tests conducted in accordance to BS 476 Part
5, 6 & 7 and it is classified as a Class 0 material.

Spandrel Wall constructed with VIVA BOARDS will be very

much lighter than conventional concrete walls thus saving in
overall structural load
