 DIM NOR

ERASE everything from the screen except your machined object and the hatched object.

From the ‘view’ menu, select ‘toolbars’ and click on ‘Dimension’ and then click ‘close’. Now use linear
dimension (the first button) to dimension the hatched view. Follow the instructions in the command
window. Using Endpoint to select correct start and end points for your dimension lines in useful.
Using Object Snap is even better.

Now use the radius option to dimension the fillet radii of the object, and diameter to dimension the
circles. You can edit dimensions too. Click on your dimension and then select the PROPERTIES
button. Here you can change the way the dimension appears and even what it says. Use the ‘Full
editor…’ to edit the text or add symbols such as diameter and degrees if required. Play around with
the other options to get a feel for what they do. Note here that any dimensions used must be of the
correct standard. This may or may not be the default given by AutoCAD so ensure once you have
finished experimenting that the final choice is correct for the standard used.
