One problem in managing the Environment in this world, how to strict the application of
international negotiations to all countries in the world. This is related to several case that still
need to be considered, the first is the study of environmental issue which are currently still
being developed in various developing countries, including Indonesia. One example,
behavior of people in Makassar city, the low level of public awareness in maintain
environmental hygiene, sanitation and health in family becomes a cycle of indifference in
community in this city, the need for socialization to low economic communities is the
responsibility of the government, especially implementation of sanitation and environmental
hygiene in Elementary school curriculum. There are still many slum areas, especially in
Mariso and Biringkanaiya sub-districts, with an average society job as porters and
scavengers. Like the faces of developing countries, in Indonesia and other developing
countries in Southeast Asia. I do not want to see this indifference continue, in my mind, we
can solve this together! Beside that, there has not been a volunteer community that truly have
a mission in educating and improving the sanitation and economy of the community in
Makassar. Seeing the trend of volunteering activities, especially on social activities in
Indonesia, is greatly increasing especially in Makassar. So with this opportunity, I and my
team will easily get a lot of support and participation from various urban youths and we can
expand the population mindset around where we live. This is in line with the development of
the city of Makassar into a modern city and must be balanced with the mindset of people who
understand environmental awareness and sanitation. I hope that the experience, knowledge
and skills that I gained from 2019 Oxford Summer School will open my point of view for how
environmental education in developed countries, especially the UK, could be a comparison
for me in guarding Indonesian environment and economic policies. As a student in
Environmental Engineering Department, I also feel that many subjects are still monotonous
and not based on problem solving, especially how to build a student mindset to be a problems
solve catalyst in the environment, with a tailored curriculum to the development of industrial
and global needs. So that, students who graduated from this department have
competitiveness towards other graduates and could be directly used in the industrial world.
Also be a "hero" for the surround in resolving existing environmental problems. After
participating in this Oxford Summer School, I hope to get a knowledge that I might to apply
to the company where I am currently working as Internship tranee. Especially how to
improving the quality of the environment and environmental management system of a
company.
