ASSIGNMENT#1

INTRODUCTION TO ANTHROPOLOGY
ANTHROPOLOGICALLY OUR GLOBE GIVES DIFFERENT SHADES?

Our Globe is divided into seven continents so it is obvious that these continents gives different
shades anthropologically to our globe.

Seven continents include Asia, Europe, South America, North America, Africa, Australia and
Antarctica.

The total landmass on earth is formed of these seven continents of various sizes. Some are
connected to each other while others are not. All of them have a different number of countries
forming them.

ASIA: Asia contains some of the oldest civilizations among the 7 continents including the
countries of China and Japan.Asian people are progenies of an umpteen number of ethnic
races. It contains countries like India, Pakistan, Myanmar, China, Bangladesh, Afghanistan,
Nepal, Sri Lanka and the developed countries of Japan and Russia. This continent is abounding
with a variety of climates, lands and amazing landscapes.Asian people are known all over the
world for their strong cultural values and intelligent minds.

AFRICA: Africa is the continent made up of 54 independent countries as well as a rich mixture
of cultures, native people, history and economy. The diverse and rich African culture varies not
only within each nation but from one nation to another as well. The culture of every ethnic
group is centered on family and can be observed in the music, oral literature and peculiar art to
each group. People practice many religions, speak a wide variety of languages and reside in
numerous kind of dwellings.
AUSTRALIA: Australians are very down to earth and always mindful of not giving the impression
that they think they are better than anyone else.English is the primary language used in
Australia. Yet their colorful vocabulary, accent, phonetics system and slang can take a lot of
getting used to.Australians place a high value on relationships.Australia is a predominantly
Christian country, with about 64% of all Australians identifying as Christian, there is no official
state religion.Australian art dates back to prehistoric times. It includes Aboriginal, Colonial,
Landscape, Atelier, early twentieth century painters, print makers, photographers, sculptors,
and contemporary art.

EUROPE: combining elements of Antiquity, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, the Renaissance and
the Enlightenment – has created an array of indisputable values, to which the European Union
pays lip service, but which it often regards simply as pretty packaging for the things that really
matter.Europeans appear to be quite clear in their rejection and masse of lying in your own
interest, cheating on tax returns or avoiding a fare on public transport. In an anthropological
sense, of course, all peoples possess culture. But high culture – as conceived of by most people
continues to be essentially European.

AMERICA: The United States is the world's fourth largest country, with an area of 3,679,192
square miles.Americans generally do not consider themselves an imperial or colonial power,
the country has a number of commonwealths and territories, most of which were acquired
through military conquest. The physical environment is extremely diverse and often
spectacular.
The physical environment has had significant effects on regional cultures.
There is no official national language. If English is its unofficial first language, Spanish is its
unofficial second language.Linguistic and cultural diversity is accepted in states such as New
York and Illinois. The flag is also employed frequently as a symbol of protest.Nationalism and
community solidarity frequently are expressed through sports. The class, racial, ethnic, and
gender relationships of the contemporary nation have their roots in the colonial
period.Relationships among racial and ethnic groups have been mediated by the association
between status, whiteness, and position in the labor market. The United States is an urban and
suburban nation whose numerous cities each tell a story about its historical and economic
development. Americans eat large amounts of processed, convenience, and fast foods. The
average diet is high in salt, fat, and refined carbohydrates. Anthropologically history of
Americans is vast and rich.

ANTARCTICA: With Antarctica lacking any permanent residents, there is no unique culture here,
but visitors can learn more about the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration by visiting the former
whaling station at South Georgia. The site features a museum and remarkably well-preserved,
abandoned expedition huts of Scott on Ross Island to get an idea of the conditions experienced
by early explorers.

So, by studying the history, culture, tradition, religions, languages, location, customs etc. of
people of each continent we can say that people in every corner of the world may belongs to
the same specie but are different in these aspects from each other.
