    PURPOSE:
    To minimize the hazards and the risks associated with the hazards while
    working in Confined Space/s.
    .
    SCOPE: Applicable to Confined Space activity carried out any where under
    execution function.

    RESPONSIBILTY:
    Site in-charge / Site engineer / Safety officer / Vendor Supervisor / Workmen

    PROCEDURE:
    Ensure -
     Valid permit to work is issued and authorized by the concerned
    authorities
     Concerned employee is trained , instructed and demonstrated in the
    understanding of knowledge and skill necessary for the safe performance
    of duties
     Hazards are discussed in tool box talk
     Concerned employee is familiar with emergency procedure
     Condition is met to work in confined space as per work permit
     Ventilating equipment & 24 volts power source is available to maintain
    acceptable entry condition
     Inspection at regular intervals to determine the acceptable conditions are
    being maintained while employees working
     Oxygen monitoring is maintained between 19 % to 21% by trained people
     Required ppes are available to all employees
     All portable electrical equipment used inside routed through 30ma
    against fault protection
     Minimum two persons are present while working in confined space out of
    which one should be present at the entry point to keep watch
     All the employees involved are listed in the permit and pasted outside the
    confined space area.
     Comply height work permit system in confined space
     Supervisor has signed off on the work permit indicating that the entry
    conditions are acceptable
     Do not clear the fumes and gases with pure oxygen to avoid risk of being
    enveloped in fire if there is a source of ignition
     Keep the first aid kit / equipments nearby place of confined space work
     Keep spark proof torches or 24 volts light to use in confined space
     Fire-fighting apparatus to be kept ready
     Audible alarm for summoning help to be kept ready & in hand

     Resuscitation equipment to be kept ready


     Registers indicating persons entering into the confined space shall be
    displayed outside / recorded
     Fan or fresh air intake / circulation provided
     If the work is performed, Permit should be cancelled.
     Confined space permit without O2 monitoring shall not be signed.
     Cross check will be done by safety officer for issued confined work
    permits.

    IN CASE OF DEVIATIONS:
    Below are the risks that would arise if there are any deviations from the
    stated procedure.
