HR support and guidance for mixed union/non-union environment with 800+ employees in 3 plants

 Recruited qualified candidates for Engineering, Technical and Manufacturing positions using both internal and
external resources, including ATS, CoE Talent Acquisition, and the VEC. Worked closely with agencies to
manage temporary staffing needs.
 Participated in the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers Conference and recruited diversity candidates
for companywide positions.
 Identified and sourced candidates for Intern and Entry Level positions from local universities: Old Dominion
University, College of William and Mary, Virginia Tech University, and ECPI. Recruited at the 2016 Mid-Atlantic
Region E Society of Women Engineers Conference held in conjunction with Old Dominion University. Alcoa
served as a Gold Level Sponsor in this event.
 Managed the summer internship program. Organized weekly Lunch & Learn meetings with Business Unit
leaders and interns through video conference calls, community service events and project presentation to
senior management.
 Coordinated grant applications with the Alcoa and Arconic Foundation for The College of William & Mary, Girl
Scouts of the Colonial Coast, Aviation Academy to initiate interest and provide support to students to pursue
studies in a STEM field.
 Led the employee engagement strategy that impacted positively the Global Voices Survey results. Developed
monthly engagement plan and chaired the Site Engagement Steering Committee. Communicated plan to
managers and front line supervisors in daily management meetings. Improved the engagement scores for IGT
and HSC plants to 71% and 73%, and participation rates to 81% and 90%, respectively.
 Led the annual Month of Service by planning and coordinating 44 community service events. Managed the
application and approval processes for 10 grants and 5 charitable contributions to local non-profit
organizations through the Alcoa Foundation.
 Led the Global Voices Survey (GVS) for approximately 700 employees. In preparation of the GVS, I created
compelling Engagement Year-In-Review presentations for Plant Managers. Trained front line supervisors to
highlight achievements to their team members. Administered GVS Pulse surveys and conducted focus groups
to obtain employee feedback in areas identified as least favorable in the survey. Created action plan and
tracked progress on a monthly basis.
 Conducted orientation for new hires and contractors to include presenting new hire material, collecting
necessary documentation, reviewing company policies, and explaining benefits.
 Led and participated in comprehensive investigation and fact-finding activities that resulted in positive
employee relations. Provided advice and guidance to management and front line supervisors in disciplinary
actions to make sure policies are being followed and discipline is being issued consistently and fairly across the
sites. Facilitated appeal, peer review and management review processes.
 Investigated Integrity Line complaints and issued response reports to Corporate Ethics & Compliance
department. Administered annual Code of Conduct training for approximately 700 employees.

Associate Relations Representative

 Led employee relations function for the complex. Supervise two direct reports: Nightshift Associate Relations
Representative (exempt) and Associate Relations Clerk (non-exempt). Assume managerial responsibilities in
the absence of Complex HR Manager.
 Counseled with plant and live production management on conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, termination
process and policy interpretation, as well as responded to associate concerns and issues. Conducted
investigations for hotline complains, sexual harassments, and violation of company policy. Performed exit
interviews on departing employees whenever possible; initiated several new plant-wide activities and events
to boost overall employee satisfaction and present company as an Employer of Choice. Responsible for round
table meetings, including notes, posting of results, associate selection, attendance tracking, coordination as
well as reporting to senior management on progress and status.
 Implemented and managed Leave of Absence Program to ensure compliance with Family Medical Leave Act
(FMLA) as well as company's policies. This included: identify leave types, approve or deny requests, calculate
and monitor leave duration, and coordinate return to work with wellness center on policy compliance.
