CONCEPT PAPER (ANTI-BULLYING

THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA)

OCTOBER 5, 2016 / CASTROPAULINE

Mr. Zuckerberg,

Good day! I’m a fan of your social networking site, Facebook and I’ve been a proud
member since 2011 and I must say you’re a genius for creating the site as it helped a
lot of people including me to communicate with my friends and do a lot of things such
as posting a photo or video and even start a social media campaign where you only
need to gain likes and shares for you to financially support the advocacy and make it
happen.

Despite popular belief that Millennials can fend for ourselves,

the increasingly dangerous practice of cyber bullying leaves us
defenseless and in need of direction. In a recent poll conducted
by the Cyberbullying Research Center in 2010, statistics show
that 20.8% of surveyed students had been cyber bullied at some
point by one of the majority of their schoolmates who use social
media networking sites especially Facebook. Because of this, I
want to make a request or proposal to you, and this is through
launching a social media campaign in Facebook and if we can
get a hundred thousand likes, comments and shares, you’ll
support our advocacy financially to stop cyberbullying.
The number of cases of cyberbullying has been alarmingly increasing and it this not
only affects the one who’s being bullied but this also affects the generation and the
society of today. When cyber bullying occurs it is often followed by negative
effects. Online bullying can lead to loss of self-esteem, and even contemplation of
suicide. With access to so many tools that could potentially do harm, safety is a
primary concern to teachers and parents. Due to this, the effects of cyber bullying are
more important to be aware of then ever before.
There had been previous steps taken to prevent cyber bullying. For instance, a free
guidance consultation or programs held in schools for the studentsand parents to be
aware of this problem. Slogans and online commercials also were taken into account.
Through the years, little by little through the implementation of these programs, many
believe and us too that we can eradicate cyber bullying.

Through the launch of the social media campaign in Facebook, a lot of people from
around the world can see this and this might serve as an eye opener for those who still
enjoy bullying others online. We believe that change starts within a person and if we
could touch that part of him to change, we could too with others. This campaign will
contain self-made videos and photos of people who experienced cyber bullying and
how it affected their lives and worst cases of cyber bullying that has happened
throughout the globe.

I’d be extremely happy if you’ll consider our proposal since this is not just a problem
of us but also a problem of our society and the world. If you could help us, the funds
will be used in organizing programs in schools for the awareness of everybody and
guidance counseling for those unfortunate ones who experienced extreme effects of
cyber bullying.

We will be in charge of the Facebook page that is entitled, “No to Cyber Bullying, No
to Oppression” wherein people could send their videos and messages describing their
experiences and inspirational messages for a call of change. This will serve as a public
forum for acceptance and doesn’t tolerate prejudices and judgments towards our
victims who are willing to share their thoughts on cyber bullying and its effects to the
society. We will also make our own videos which is a form of compilation of the
senders’ videos and we will post in on the said page. This is where our proposal sets
in. We would like to ask for your cooperation as being a successful international
company, to donate a dollar to our anti-cyber bullying foundation for every 4 likes, 4
comments and a share in Facebook.
We will only count the number of likes, comments and shares from this October to the
end of the year 2016. We will tabulate everything and send you the report by January
via email. The proceeds will go directly to our foundation who will fund institutions
which offers support groups to those who have been victimized for them to gain back
self-esteem and develop camaraderie. Remaining budgets will be used to organized
symposiums for students at school for more awareness. This amount will also help in
pushing through Anti-cyber bullying bills to be laws in certain countries.

We are aiming for a total of 500,000 dollars by the end of the year. We ask this
minimum amount but if you choose to further help our organization, you could also
add a certain amount if the posts will spread worldwide through our page which our
team is sure about since cyber bullying is very rampant and it affects people in all
ages specifically the teens of today. Many want to be advocates for change, they just
need a platform.

Our team is hoping for your positive response regarding this campaign since it will
also benefit you in terms of promotions. By this project, we will prove that Facebook
is not a mere social media site but a company that is an advocate for change in terms
of uplifting human dignity of its valued users. We will spread awareness across
nations to a simple click in our computers and mobile phones. This will help in
creating a more harmonious global community between people from around the
world.
