Informative Communication

What I have learned from this topic? Well, when we say informative
communication it is a process when people share knowledge about the world in which
they live. Informative messages attempt to present an objective—that is, truthful and
unbiased—view of the topics being considered. For example, if a sports fan reads
accounts of a basketball game in two different newspapers, it is reasonable to expect
that the reports will agree on all the informative speeches can cover many subjects as
long as they can be discussed without persuading or altering the perceptions of the
audience.

The four types of informative speeches are definition, explanatory, descriptive,

and demonstrative. An informative speech is one that informs the audience. The main
goal of an informative speech is to provide enlightenment regarding a specific topic the
audience knows nothing about.

As a speaker it is important to think about how this information will be presented.

An informative speech should rely less on pathos, which is an appeal to the emotions of
the audience and an important component of persuasive speeches. Although
informative speaking may not be the most exciting form of public speaking, it is the most
common. Reports, lectures, training seminars, and demonstrations are all examples of
informative speaking.
Persuasive Communication

Well after we discussed about this topic, I have learned that Persuasive
communication is any message whose sole purpose is to get the listener to support and
transform their thinking in favor of the presenter's perspective. It is about creating an
attitude change to influence social behavior.

Effective persuasive communication addresses the audience's needs, values and

desires. Audiences respond better to persuasive communication when they feel the
person speaking is similar to them in some way, whether it's in age, occupation or
socio-economic status.

One of the examples of persuasive communication is a sales lady in a mall, she

introduce first their products to the customer and she try to convince her customer to
buy their products. The persuasive strategies used by advertisers who want you to buy
their product can be divided into three categories: pathos, logos, and ethos. Pathos: an
appeal to emotion. An advertisement using pathos will attempt to evoke an emotional
response in the consumer. An advertisement using logos will give you the evidence and
statistics you need to fully understand what the product does. An advertisement using
ethos will try to convince you that the company is more reliable, honest, and credible;
therefore, you should buy its product.
Argumentative Communication

Argumentative communication is considered a subset of assertiveness because,

while all argumentation is assertive, not all assertiveness is argumentative.
Argumentative communication is a modern approach to making decisions considers real
argumentations where rational communicators do the best they can to justify their
standpoints in a certain context .This is considered to be argumentative communication,
the art of persuading based on reason, on facts and not emotions.

Argumentative individuals advocate positions on controversial issues and

verbally attack other people's contradictory perspectives. In a word, it is an underlying
motivation to argue. However, it is important to note that it is the person's position that is
under attack in argumentativeness, and not the individual.

Debating is one of the examples of argumentative. For me it is not bad arguing

people if you are right. For example when you are debating, you should fight and stand
your idea about a certain topic. We should remember the do’s and don’ts when we are
arguing.
Public Speaking

State of the Nation (SONA) of our President Rodrigo Duterte is an example of

Public Speaking. I have learned from this topic that Public speaking is the process or
act of performing a speech to a live audience. Public speaking is commonly understood
as formal, face-to-face speaking of a single person to a group of listeners. It is usually
done before a large audience, like in school, the workplace and even in our personal
lives. The benefits of knowing how to communicate to an audience include sharpening
critical thinking and verbal/non-verbal communication skills.

Public speaking is important because it helps you to improve your knowledge.

The preparation that goes into a speech and the fact that you have to work out how to
communicate to others effectively makes you understand your content that much better.
Whether you're a small business owner, a student, or just someone who's passionate
about something—you'll benefit if you improve your public speaking skills, both
personally and professionally.

I will not deny that I am afraid or I have fear in speaking in front of many people
or audiences but as a future educator we need or I need to overcome that fear inside of
me. I need to improve and boost my confidence and practice more so in case we are
now in the situation that you need to stand in front of audiences to deliver your speech
you are confident enough to speak well.
Making Inquiries

What I have learned from this topic? So as a reporter of this topic, for me when
we say inquiries it is asking for information. Telephone always plays a very important
part in hospitality industry. People all over the world call for making booking or asking
for information or transferring messages to the guests or for various other purposes. If
you work at the hotel you certainly have to answer the telephone calls.

When we are inquiring for example, you are inquiring for a job to make it formal
some make an inquiry letter and send to the company where you are applying, just wait
for their response to your letter. Some use email or phone calls in inquiring. When we
are inquiring thru phones we should speak clearly so that they will understand what you
are inquiring about.

In inquiring we always remember we should state the subject why or what you
are inquiring about. It is best to know and learn the proper way in making inquiries so
that we will apply it when we are inquiring for a job soon and other information you want
to know.
Communication and Globalization

What I have learned from this topic? After the reporter discussed about this topic,
I learned that communication it means is the act of conveying meanings and information
from one entity or group to another. Communication is important because it help us
exchange knowledge. Without communications we would be limited by our own brain’s
ability to do things. Communication allows us to share the knowledge and do complex
things which would be impossible to do without communication.

Globalization mainly deals with the interconnectedness of the people in a global

manner. It is due to the globalization that we are so much adapted and accustomed to
not only the western cultures but other culture as well. Globalization has helped the
people to be updated with each and every happenings of the world.

Globalization affects every aspect of an individual’s life including religion, food,

transport, language, music, and clothing. It affects each individual differently however,
depending on a diverse number of factors such as location, education and income.
Personally, globalization affects me positively because of bonding and exchanging of
goods, ideas and so on.
Local and Global Communication in Multi-
Cultural Setting

When we say local communication it is being able to communicate with the

members of local area. It can be either in your local languages (mother tongue) or a
common language that you speak with your town. When we differentiate the local to
global communication, when we say local communication it is within your country while
global communication it is from one country to another country.

In communicating especially in global, we may encounter different people with

different languages and culture they have. We all know there are different barriers in
communicating one of these is the culture. When we are communicating we need to
know first the culture, their beliefs and also the behavior of that person or groups you
are communicating in order to understand each other.

We may encounter different people for example, you are having a business in
other country, always remember knowing the culture and languages they use so that
there will be no longer barriers when you are communicating. Sometimes we lack
knowledge about the culture of other country that may affect your communication and
leads to misunderstanding.
