Flocabulary 2.8 (Week 2- Week of August 19th) 1. blast (noun) An explosion (verb) 1. To blow up. 2. A loud sound 2. exactly (adverb) If something looks or sounds just the same. 3. factory (noun) Where things are made over and over again. 4. guilty (adj) Doing something wrong or feeling bad about doing something wrong. 5. invent (verb) To make or think of something for the first time. 6. nervous (adj) To feel excited and a little scared, not calm 7. notice (verb) To see or hear something 8. shy (adj) Don’t like talking, don’t want people to see you 9. smooth (adj) flat, not bumpy or rough 10. zigzag (verb) To change direction back and forth as you move forward

1. brave (adj) Not scared of danger 2. cage (noun) A type of box made of wire or bars, usually for animals 3. cheer (verb) To make loud noises to make a person or team feel better. (noun) A loud, happy yell 4. frighten (verb) To be scared 5. gaze (verb) To look at something for a long time 6. insect (noun) A small animal that has 3 main body parts, 6 legs, and 2 antennae 7. lizard (noun) A cold-blooded animal with a long body, 4 legs, and a long tail. 8. search (verb) To look for something 9. weak (adj) Not strong. 10. worry (verb) To think that something bad might happen.

1. astronomy (noun) The study of planets, stars, and everything else in outer space. 2. field (noun) A big, open area that has no trees usually for playing games or growing things 3. lonely (adj) When you feel sad about being by yourself. 4. luxury (noun) Something that you enjoy but don’t really need and usually cost a lot of money 5. past (noun) Everything that happened before right now (adverb/preposition) To go beyond something 6. present (noun) 1. A gift 2. The present is the time right now. 7. scholar (noun) Someone who studies a subject or knows a lot about it. 8. slight (adj) Small in importance or number. 9. stream (noun) A small river that is not wide or deep. (verb) If something streams, it moves like water. 10. telescope (noun) An object that makes things far away look closer and bigger by using lenses

1. award (noun) Receive when you win or do something really well (verb) To give someone a prize 2. core(noun) The center or middle part of some round things like fruit or planets. 3. fuel (noun) Something that is burned to give power or heat. 4. gap (noun) A space in between two things that are usually closed. 5. mention (verb) To talk about something without saying too much about it. 6. motor (noun) An engine, an object that allows something to move or do work 7. nibble (verb) To take little bites of something 8. settle (verb) 1. To stop moving around. You take it easy and relax. 2. To figure out how to solve a problem 3. To choose to live somewhere permanently 9. tiny (adj) Very small 10. wealthy (adj) To have a lot of money.

1. besides (adverb/preposition) “Also” or “In addition to.” 2. corner (noun) A place where two walls or two streets meet. (verb) To stand so that it’s hard for someone to get away 3. damp (adj) To be a little bit wet 4. flap (verb) To move back and forth or up and down through the air. 5. gravity (noun) The force on our planet that pulls things toward the center of the Earth 6. pale (adj) To not have very much color 7. reflect (verb) 1. To make light or sound bounce off of something 2. To think about something for a while. 8. skill (noun) Something you can do very well because you’ve practiced it or been trained in how to do it. 9. steady (adj) 1. Firmly in place and isn’t going to tip over 2. Something that happens again and again without too many breaks. 10. tower (noun) A tall building or a thin, tall part of a building (verb) To rise high in the air above other things
