ABSTRACT
Background: Breast milk is the natural first food for babies, and should be given without
eating companion until the age of 6 months. But in fact, both in rural and urban is still
seemingly a tendency decreased breastfeeding, which is due to the tendency of people to
imitate something that is considered a modern coming and also caused by several factors
such as health and or health services (clinics and Hospital) has not been supportive of
exclusive breastfeeding.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between perceptions of
infant formula with exclusive breastfeeding in infants aged 0-6 months in the Village District
Kandangan Srengat Blitar Year 2013.
Method: The design of this study is Analytical Correlational, respondents were selected by
using the total population by the number of respondents 34 mothers of infants aged 0-6
months in the Village District Kandangan Srengat Blitar. The method used data editing
processing, coding, and tabulating scoring. Data analyzed by using Chi-square test (χ2).
Result: The results showed that the respondents had the perception of infant formula is
agreed that almost half as many as 12 people with the percentage of 35.4% and exclusive
breastfeeding is largely not exclusively breast-fed as many as 21 people with a percentage of
61.8%. Based on the results of this research is that there is a relationship between the
perceptions of infant formula with exclusive breastfeeding in infants aged 0-6 months.
Conclusion: Researchers hope to further research may consider this study as a next research
especially related to exclusive breastfeeding.
