Course Description: The Physical Education Program in 6th – 8th grade provides for physical, mental,
social, and emotional skill development, which will be continued in the high school program. The
emphasis in the 6th – 8th grade Physical Education program is to develop this understanding and skill
through participation in physical activity.
Activities: The following activities will be used to develop understanding of movement concepts,
principles, strategies, and tactics as they apply to the learning and performance of physical activities.

Dressing Out:
Dressing out (10 points per week, 2 points per day): Students are required to change clothes to
participate in PE. Dressing out is defined by the student Changing out of the attire they wore to school
and wearing an athletic top and bottom. Shorts, sweatpants and yoga pants are accepted, T-shirts must
have sleeves and must be school appropriate and tennis shoes, no sandles, slides, boots or open toe
shoes. Failure to dress out will result in losing a maximum of 2 points per day.
1st and 2nd Non-dress - loss of points and a in-class written assignment.
3rd Non-dress - loss of points, an in-class written assignment and a call to parents.
4th Non-dress and beyond - loss of points, an in-class written assignment
Participation: Participation (10 points per week, 2 points per day): Students are expected to
participate in the activity of the day. Students who are not dressed out properly will still be allowed
to participate if they have the proper shoes, however they will not receive points for dressing out.
Student’s that refuse to participate will lose their daily points.
Excuses: If a student is not to participate in class due to illness/injury, s/he is to bring a note from a
parent/guardian/nurse. If a student is to be excused for more than 2 consecutive days, a doctor's
note is required. If a student is to be limited in participation, a doctor's note is required. Student’s
will be given a written alternate assignment.
Fitness Gram: Student’s physical fitness will be evaluated using the state mandated Fitness Gram
This test includes, Pacer, Push ups, Sit ups, Sit and Reach, Height and weight. We will do a Pre-test, Mid-
test and Post-test
Student Expectations:

Cell phone usage is not permitted along with headphones or other electronics
The PE department does not assume responsibility for lost or stolen electronics
Lockers will be provided for students if they would like a PE locker
No food or drinks are allowed in the gym.
Water bottles are allowed but they will be kept outside of the gym area
Horse playing and play fighting will not be tolerated, on the first offense a phone call will be
made home
Be a good teammate/Classmate, There are different levels of athletes in class encourage
everyone.
