Your score is measured according to a percentile rank.

Think of ‘percentile’ as meaning ‘per cent’ of students in your own year in many
schools across the country, known as the ‘norm’ group.

60 percentile indicates an aptitude. A higher percentile score indicates a stronger

aptitude. If your percentile rank on one test is 80, you are at the top of 80 per cent of
the group – only 20 per cent made higher scores than you. If you scored in the 25 th
percentile, this would mean that 75 per cent of the group did better than you in the
test.

Thus, a percentile rank always indicates your relative standing among a theoretical
100 persons representing a large ‘norm’ group. It does not tell how many questions
(or what per cent of them) you answered correctly.

An Aptitude Test Score is not a single determining indicator and should only be used
when taking into account other factors such as

 Interests
 Experience
 Personality characteristics

This Aptitude Test profile does not take into account other abilities and potentials that
you may have and that should be considered, e.g.

 Creativity
 Sporting ability
 Literacy
 Musical Ability
 Interpersonal/Intrapersonal skills

procedures. It can also mean you like to work with numbers and figures.

Critical Analysis of Interest Test

The highest possible score anyone can obtain in an Interest Area is 40. If any of your
results are below 10, it may indicate you have not yet developed an exact interest
pattern. It is very common for young people to have not yet developed a particular
interest path. Making a career decision is a long hard process so don’t expect to
decide straight away. If you scored above 30 in any area it would indicate you have
developed a strong interest in that related field. It has been proven that by the age of
32 people generally change jobs about eight times until they find the one they really
enjoy the most. That is why it is so important to choose the correct college
course/training course so as you can avoid errors that can be costly in terms of money
and time.

An Interest Test does not show your abilities, things you can do well but it does show
areas/jobs you might like. To succeed in any job you need more than just an interest,
you also need ability. This CDM Interest test will help you to consider your ability as
well as your work values along with your area of interest.
