gaining its popularity at an amazing rate. Some young people assert that the
internet bring us a lot of benefits while many others argue that its drawbacks
should not be ignored. It is quite understandable that young people from different
backgrounds put different interpretations on the same issue.
Those who favor that the internet has many advantages give their reasons as
follows.
In the first place, it is obvious that the internet brings us great convenience
and efficiency. the Internet allow young people in different countries to interact
without ever meeting each other. For example, we can send Emails or text
messages to our friends in other countries in a few minutes while sending a
traditional letter takes us at least a week and costs much.
In the second place, it is a well-known fact that we can make friends with
young people from all parts of world. many people use social networks, like
Facebook, to make new friends and find people who share common interests,
and they interact through their computers, their phones. Internet has also proved as
a very important tool to connect people with each other.
In addition, it is true that the internet spreads education to all corners of the
globe. services like Skype create new possibilities for relationships between
students and teachers. For example, a student can now take video lessons with a
teacher in a different city or country. And young people also can have easy and
quick access to the latest information worldwide for study.
On the other hand, some other people hold different attitudes argue that the
internet has many weaknesses.
For one thing, it seems that it can easily lead to psychological problems. For
instance, an internet-addicted person tends to be isolated. it also has negative
impacts on young people because there are a lot of obscene and violent contents
online.
For another, young people are facing some health problems such as poor
eye-sight, back ache, migrane,.... Today's teenagers usually prefer to spend their
time on internet rather than to participating in other physical activities, so that's
why they are going to be weaker in their physical health.
To sum up, There is probably a little bit of truth in both arguments. For my
part, I completely agree with the latter view that the internet is an incredible tool
and the benefits of Internet access outweight the dangers. However, we should be
careful not to use the Internet excessively.
