stamped on the label attached to the port
side of the clamp bracket or the upper part of
the swivel bracket.
Record your outboard motor serial number in
the spaces provided to assist you in ordering
spare parts from your Yamaha dealer or for
reference in case your outboard motor is sto-
len.

protection device(s). This feature permits the
engine to be started only when it is in neutral.
Always select neutral before starting the en-

Top cowling lock levers


To remove the top cowling, raise the lower
part of the front lock lever to release the lock.
Next, turn the rear lock levers to release 1
them, allowing the top cowling to be re-
moved. When replacing the cowling, check
to be sure it fits properly in the rubber seal.
Then lock the cowling again by using the le-

Treatment of submerged motor


If the outboard motor is submerged, immedi-
ately take it to a Yamaha dealer. Otherwise
some corrosion may begin almost immedi-
ately.

spark plug holes downward to allow any
water, mud, or contaminants to drain.

filter, and fuel line.
4. Feed fogging oil or engine oil through
the carburetor(s) and spark plug holes
while cranking with the manual starter or
emergency starter rope.
