1. The graph shown in figure represents a plot of current versus voltage for a given
semiconductor. Identify the region, if any, over which the semiconductor has a negative
resistance.
2. Calculate the value of the resistance R in the circuit shown in the figure so that the
current in the circuit is 0.2 A. What would be the potential difference between points A
and B?
5. Write any two factors on which internal resistance of a cell depends. The reading on a
high resistance voltmeter, when a cell is connected across it, is 2.2 V. When terminals of
the cell are also connected to a resistance of 5 Ω as shown in the circuit, the voltmeter
reading drops to 1.8 V. Find the internal resistance of cell.
6. A wire of 10 Ω resistance is stretched to thrice its original length. What will be its (i)
new resistivity (ii) new resistance?
7. Calculate the current drawn from the battery in the given network.
8. Four identical cells, each of emf 2V, are joined in parallel providing supply of current to
external circuit consisting of two 15 Ω resistances joined in parallel. The terminal
voltage of the cells, as read by an ideal voltmeter is 1.6 volt. Calculate the internal
resistance of each cell.
9. Two wires X, Y have the same resistivity, but their cross- sectional areas are in the ratio
2:3 and lengths in the ratio 1:2. They are first connected in series and then in parallel to a
d.c. source. Find out the ratio of the drift speeds of the electrons in the two wires for the
two cases.
How would the changes affect the position of null point in each case and why?
Note: Revise the chapters thoroughly taught in the class and practice board questions.
