Stainless Steel Alloys

Next Door Company manufactures stainless steel doors and frames

from Type 304L and Type 316L alloys.

• Type 304 is standard chromium-nickel stainless steel that offers excellent

resistance to corrosion and weather. It is the most commonly specified and
used stainless steel alloy in the industry.

• Type 316 is a premium stainless steel containing an added component,

molybdenum. Type 316 alloy offers added corrosion resistance and is often
preferable in heavy chemical or wet industrial atmospheres, and marine or
coastal environments.

• The L designation indicates a low carbon variation of the alloy, which is

desirable when welding is involved during the fabrication process.

• Upon request, Next Door Company will offer an alternate price to Quotes
and include alloy upgrade.

NOTES:

The 300 Series, Austenitic, stainless steel is used in most architectural

applications. Type 304L and Type 316L are the alloys typically specified for
stainless steel doors and frames.

It is impossible to visually tell the difference between type 304 and 316 alloys.
Refer to Stainless Steel Finish for the aesthetic look of stainless steel.

Alloy is not a determination of steel thickness or gauge.
