Speaking part 1

Daily Routine
1.Tell me about your daily routine.

• I have a hectic lifestyle. After getting out of bed I go jogging. Next, I take a refreshing cold shower and
have a full breakfast. Then, I get ready and take a taxi to work/college. You know, I work/study 12 hours a day
excluding my one-hour lunch break, in which I order a takeaway or grab a bite at a fast-food place. I get home at
about 8:00 and deal with some backlog and burn the midnight oil.

2.What is your typical weekend like?

• I usually have very lazy weekends. I almost sleep in on the weekends and after waking up, I watch TV, take
a shower, and do some household chores, like doing the laundry, ironing, and so on. Later on, I have my lunch
and take a nap. After that, I go out with my friends and get back home at 10:00 .

3.What is the balance of work/study and free time in your normal day?

• A healthy dose of both work and free time is necessary because working allows you to make progress and
leisure lifts your spirit, so I try to achieve a balance between them.

4.Do you prefer relaxing at home or going out in the evenings?

• I'm a real homebody as I'd rather stay home, watch TV, and chat with my family. This allows us unwind
and enjoy being with one another.

Job
1.Do you think you are qualified for your job?

• Definitely. I am highly experienced and while I don't have any academic qualifications, I know all the
ins and outs of my job.

2.What do you like about your job?

• It is absolutely worthwhile. It provides me with the chance to make a difference, and thus brings me great
satisfaction.

3.Is there something you dislike about your job?

What annoys me most is that I live from hand to mouth because my job is poorly-paid. Furthermore, I always
have to work overtime to make ends meet.

4.What is your working hours like?

• I work 8 hours a day. You know I have to punch in at 8 a.m. and punch out at 4 a.m.

5.What are your occupational goals for future?

• I am going to make an important career move by gaining more experience and excelling in my job.

6.Do you prefer to work independently or on a team?

• I much prefer to work on a team. Collaborative work offers me a great opportunity to broaden my
horizons and learn from others.

Studies
1.Tell me about your studies.

• I am a graduate student majoring in English Teaching at Tehran University. I am currently working on


my thesis.

2.What are your future occupational plans?

• I would like to obtain a higher degree. I have already applied to a number of elite universities.

3.How do you like your major?

• I adore my major. All graduates in architecture possess professional qualifications and don't need to worry
about finding a job.

4.Is it important to have higher education in your opinion?

• As far as I'm concerned, it is vital to have higher education. The more qualifications you have, the more
chances you have of finding a decent job.

Country & Hometown


1. What languages are spoken in your country?

• Modern Persian is the official language, but important languages of the minority groups include Azeri, Arabic,
and Kurdish.

2. What kinds of foreign tourist visit your country?

• Most visitors to my country are religious pilgrims to the Shia sites in Mashhad and elsewhere. Also, Iran
is visited by those coming for pleasure, especially people from neighboring countries.

3. Where do you come from?

• I come from a quite large multicultural city called Shiraz, which is located in the southwest of Iran. It is a
roughly ten-hour bus-journey to the capital.

4. What's the weather like in your city?

• Generally speaking, we enjoy a mild climate throughout the year. In spring and summer, we have lovely
sunshine, in fall, pleasant breezes blow.

5. What are the people like in your city?

• Very hospitable and welcoming. You know, they try to make tourists feel at home. In addition, they are
friendly and really helpful. Everyone is willing to give others a helping hand.

6. What are the most serious problems there?

• Unfortunately, it has witnessed a huge population explosion in the past 20 years, and the huge number of
city dwellers has led to many problems, like drug abuse. It has undergone dramatic changes, and the
transformation from a largely rural area to an urban landscape can't go unnoticed.

7. What do you like best about your hometown?

• There are plenty of interesting and historical spots. Persepolis is a remarkable one. It is among the sites
you can't just miss .No trip to my city would be complete without visiting Persepolis. No wonder it's always
swarming with tourists.

8. How do most people travel to work where you live?

• Since public transportation is inefficient, most people prefer to travel by their own cars, with commutes
varying from minutes to hours.

Music
1. Do you like music?

• I'm mad about music. Actually, music is my only passion, and I can't imagine my life without it since it refreshes
my mind. Besides, it puts me in a pleasant mood.

2. What kind of music is your favourite?

• I adore pop music. To tell you the truth, nothing but pop can cheer me up when I am down in the dumps.
Also, personally, I think it's the only type of music that touches the soul.

3. Are there any types of music you don't like?

• I can't stand rap as it puts me in a gloomy mood. As far as I'm concerned, it encourages violent behavior,
too.

4. What musical instrument do you like listening to?

• I am fond of the piano. There is nothing as soothing as the sound of it, which is actually out of this world.

Book
1. What kind of books do you like?

• I am crazy about biographies since they certainly broaden the mind. Actually, I can't get enough of them.

2. How have your taste in reading materials changed in the past 20 years?

• Um, I used to find comic books really fascinating when I was younger, and I would regularly read them.
However, I loathe them now. I find them trashy, and I believe reading them is a complete waste of time.

3.Do you prefer fiction or non-fiction?

• While I find them both enjoyable, I would rather read fiction. I am a huge fiction reader because it allows
me to travel to fantasy worlds.

4. What kind of movies do you like?

• I am really into comedies. They are always mood boosters and give me a good laugh.

Movies
1.Are there any types of movies you don't like?

• I loathe war movies. The reason is that they are too violent. In my opinion, they should be banned altogether.

2. Do you prefer documentaries or action movies?

• Documentaries appeal to me more. I am of the opinion that every single minute of life should be spent
productively. That's why in my free time, I prefer to watch something educational like documentaries.

3. What type of TV programmes do you like?

• I am mad about sitcoms. I find them quite entertaining and hilarious. They can be really informative as
well.

4. Are there any kinds of TV programmes you don't like?

• I don't care for soap operas. In my opinion, there is nothing as boring as them, and watching such programs
is a complete waste of time.

5. How often do you watch TV?

• I'm mad about TV and can't live without it. I watch 6 or 7 hours of TV every day, so I guess I am a coach
potato.

6. Do you enjoy adverts?

• I can't stand them. Throughout my life, I have been constantly bombarded with advertisements and I'm
really tired of manipulations.

Clothes
1. What kind of clothes do you like to wear?

• Anything striking. To me, clothing should express your individuality, so I usually don't conform.

2. Are there any kinds of clothes you don't like?

• I loathe wearing outlandish outfits. I do not like to stand out and I believe I shouldn't wear clothes that
attract attention.

3. Do you prefer to dress up or dress down?

• I'd rather dress down. Comfort comes first for me and I don't care what people think of my clothes.

4. How important are clothes and fashion to you?

• Fashion is a big deal to me. You have to look good for people to take you seriously. Wearing nice outfits and
keeping up with fashion also enhance my confidence.

Food/Cooking
1. What’s your favourite food?

• I'm crazy about Iranian kebab. It's definitely the best food I can imagine. Actually, it is simply to-die-for.

2. Is there any food you don't like?

• I can't stand shrimp or anything that's made with it. It looks really disgusting, and its smell is really sickly.

3. Do you prefer home-made food or fast-food?

• I'm more attracted to home-made foods. Even if it weren't more delicious than fast food, the simple fact that it is
healthy would make it preferable.

4. What kind of new food would you like to try?

• I would like to sample French cuisine. Apparently, it is really excellent, and I really want to know what it's like.

5. Do you enjoy cooking?

• I do. I consider it an artistic expression and a great way to enhance and demonstrate creativity.

6. What was the first meal you cooked?

• Spaghetti was my first. Honestly, it turned out so good that no one believed that I had cooked it on my
own.
