We offer a flat where the volunteer will live on his or her own in Jenbach. Transportation to
work is not needed; everything is within walking-distance. Public transport is easily accessible
and well organized. The volunteer will be able to eat lunch and dinner at the local social center
seven days a week. For breakfast, weekend days and holidays as well as for cooking dinner for
him/herself once in a while, the volunteer will receive enough extra money.
This project is funded by the EU- programme “European Solidarity Corps”. We will be informed about
the approval in July. The volunteer will receive food money and a monthly pocket money of Euro 150.
The ONLY financial contribution that the selected volunteer will need to make is to pay a small share of
the travel costs if necessary (there is a lump sum budget).
The volunteer will be engaged in a variety of tasks and activities, 35 hours per week, on five
days per week. The volunteer is supported by the team and will participate in team meetings.
The main tasks and activities of the volunteer in this project are:
➢ The most important "activity" is to get in contact with the young visitors at the youth
center. It is important that the person likes to play and communicate with youngsters and
likes to listen. Each of us in the team is some kind of a "role model", also the volunteer.
➢ Involvement in leisure activities with our visitors (for example: table tennis, cooking,
baking, handicraft, creative workshops, football, helping with their homework, workshops
on different topics like health, self-esteem etc.)
➢ Occasionally, we host parties in the youth center or organise open-air events - the
volunteer will be able to participate in both.
➢ The volunteer is warmly invited to provide information and workshops about his/her
country of origin and share his/her own culture with our youth center.
➢ The volunteer can help the young visitors to get the courage to participate in some
international program too, so that our visitors get an idea of different lifestyles and the
diversity in the European Union and the whole world.
We want to open up our volunteering position to young people from different backgrounds
and with different lifestyles from EU and EEA countries. We are looking to add diversity to our
organisation.
We ask for your understanding: Only European Union (EU) or European Economic Area (EEA)
residents may apply. Due to project approval criteria, we can only accept volunteers in this placement
who do not require a residence permit or visa for 10 months in Austria.
The volunteer will have regular meetings with her or his mentor and with the hosting
organisation, to talk about the wellbeing, learning or about the project activities.
The hosting organisation will give orientation and support in the daily service to the volunteers.
The main responsible employee and the entire staff will be supporting the volunteer.
The coordinating organisation POJAT will hold a regular group meeting with all volunteers in
Tyrol in order to share experiences, give support to one another and to stay connected. Also,
there are regular free-time activities organised for the volunteers. At the end of the project we
will evaluate it together with the volunteer and look at what he or she has learned and which
competences he or she has gained and as a result the volunteer can fill in the Youthpass
certificate. The volunteer will get to know other volunteers from various countries and will be
invited to participate in monthly free-time activities, organised by young Austrians.
