Bra: With bra color and leaving a long tail, chain 6 – this counts as first dtr, *(yo hook 3 times, insert hook
into 1st chain, yo and pull through chain, yo and pull through 2 loops on hook, yo and pull through 2 loops on
hook 3 times) x5, yo and pull through 6 loops on hook, ch1 to secure cluster*. Chain 24 –this is 18 chains for
strap (adjust this if necessary) and first dtr on second cluster. Repeat * to * once, inserting hook into 6th
chain from hook instead of 1st. Leave a long tail.
Using starting and ending tails, secure clusters together in center of chest, under arm area (hiding tails inside
of mermaid) and, if desired, stich chain strap in center back to secure.
At this point, if you haven’t used safety eyes, embroider your mermaid some eyes. Add a mouth, if desired. It
is easier to finish all assembly / sewing before adding the hair.
Hair:
Cap: Using hair color, repeat rounds 1-11 of head. Because I crochet so tight, I find it helpful to go up a
hook size to make stretching this over the head easier. Finish off, leaving a very long tail and use this to
secure the hair cap to the head.
Hair style: Following Biz’s instructions for hair in the Pocket BFFs pattern, attach hair and style as desired.
