WEEKLY JOURNALS

This is where you think about your FMP learning journey and development.
Don’t simply describe what you did - consider what you have learnt and how this has benefitted
your project. What do you need to improve?

THIS IS JUST GUIDANCE THAT YOU NEED TO ADAPT TO YOUR OWN PROJECT. YOU HAVE CREATED YOUR
OWN PRODUCTION SCHEDULES AND YOUR WEEKLY BLOGS SHOULD REFELCT THAT.

THESE QUESTIONS SHOULD BE ADDRESSED IN THE WEEKS YOU COMPLETED THEM. DO NOT JUST SUBMIT THIS
FORM FILLED IN FOR YOUR WEEKLY BLOGS. THERE SHOULD BE 11 WEEKLY BLOG ENTRIES (INCLUDING
EASTER).

Week Nine – Editing

EDITING

How did you find the editing process? I enjoyed using Adobe Audition to edit my radio drama
because I enjoy editing video and sound. I found the editing
process fairly easy as I have used it before for unit 5 when we
did radio dramas before so I was able to remember the basic
editing skills needed to put together the background music,
Foley Sounds and dialogue. Overall it was easy but it just took
a fair amount of time putting everything together

What skills did you have to Whilst editing I figured out how to apply reverb to a piece of
learn/develop during the editing audio which helped me out as the piece is set in a place
process? where there is a lot of echo and I was able to recreate this
effect using the reverb effect which was useful. I felt that I
improved my basic editing skills as it felt like I was able to edit
a lot easier and quicker without hassle

Upload screenshots of the editing

process and explain what they show.

This is the screen grab I got from my radio drama in Adobe

Audition. The top row is for the background music, the second
is for Foley sounds/ sound effects, the next 3 rows are for the
dialogue, one for each character, and the last 4 rows are for
the rest of the Foley. The huge chunks of audio in the Foley
section are the footsteps for each character.

What issues did you have to The only issues I faced whilst editing, was the volume of some
overcome whilst editing? How did you of the dialogue and to fix this all I had to do was put an effect
move past them? over it and that allowed me to increase the volume on the
audio clip other than that I didn’t face any other issues

Have you identified any scenes which I don’t need to reshoot as we did all the reshooting we need
need re-shooting? Will you be able to in the studios when we were recording dialogue because we
do this? redid some lines when we misread them

Are you on track this week? If not, No

how far behind are you?

What work do you need to complete I need to finish some preproduction work
outside of lessons to stay on track?

High Grade Tips

Evaluation & Reflection

● ‘reasoned decisions and inform the development of ideas’ – both your evaluation and the
weekly reflections above will clearly show both how and why your ideas developed throughout
the project
● ‘demonstrating clarity in thinking’ – all of the above plus very clear links between your research,
planning, idea development and the production of your poster and film trailer
