After I graduate from El Dorado High School I plan on attending Lake Tahoe
Community College to obtain my General Ed. I want to move up to Lake Tahoe this summer and
eventually find a job as I go to school up there. My father is a Civil Engineer who works for
Caltrans, a job that I have found I’d like to pursue. It is a high paying job and I have always
wanted to work in some sort of a hands on job. Such as building roads, designing bridges etc, of
course it will take loads of work in and out of school but I’m prepared for it. My plan is to take
as many classes as I can while fitting into my schedule the most work I can do. I am highly
considering doing a student job while in college for Caltrans, as it will give me a great head start
towards my career.
Once I am through with Community College I want to go to a four year college to obtain
my bachelors degree. I haven’t considering many four year colleges but I’d like to go to The
University of Nevada Reno if I can. Being Close to Lake Tahoe I can definitely commute from
Tahoe to the University which will be nice. Any four year college that would accept me I am
definitely going to consider because I am really trying to get my bachelors degree and move on
from there. After I graduate from the four year i’d like to get my engineering license to then start
working for Caltrans if I can. If I don’t end up working for caltrans I have considered some
different careers. I’ve always been fond of cars and working on them I do enjoy. If I could work

in a mechanics shop as I attend college it’d definitely put me on the path towards a career in auto
mechanics. Although, my first choice is becoming a civil engineer, auto mechanics will always
I do admit that I haven’t gotten the best grades my four years of highschool as i have
hoped. Starting my freshman year I had a pretty good grade point average. Although, as I
progressed throughout my high school career I did just enough to get by. While excelling in
areas I was strong at and those that I weren't I wasn’t trying to get better in those areas as I wish I
was. I do wish that academically I took school a tad more seriously. If I could’ve I might be able
to get into a four year college instead of going to a community college right out of high school. I
still do think I have a good plan after I graduate, but it could have been easier perhaps if i’d tried
harder. I think that when I don’t understand certain areas in school like math or science I
wouldn’t try and get help which was a major problem, and weakened me academically. With my
plans of moving onto college I hope to be proficient in my studies to the best of my ability.
