1. NATIONAL FOODS:
National Foods began its journey in 1970 as a Spice company with a revolutionary product that
popularized the concept of having clean, healthy food. National foods’ initiatives since then is to
make hygienic food, reduce time spent in the kitchens, foster health and contribute towards a
positive and a more rewarding lifestyle. They contributed to:
NFL has collaborated with School of Britainnica, to support quality education for children from
unstable backgrounds by sponsoring their school copies and notebooks completely free of cost.
Aasmoon Lootfun Primary Girls School is a collaborative effort of NFL and its International
Distributor. The school is located in Islamia Colony, Kati Pahari, Karachi.
Aagahi Adult Literacy Program was launched in 2005 in collaboration with The Citizens
Foundation (TCF) to increase female literacy and impart basic education to. Over 38,000 women
made literate through this program.
NFL launched Iodized Salt as a company initiative in line with its Corporate Philosophy of
nutritious and healthy foods.
In line with providing optimal nourishment to children, NFL and Aman Foundation collaborated
through the platform of Aman Ghar. Hygienically prepared meals are provided completely free
of cost on an every-day basis to the school-going children. NFL supports this program by
contributing in the preparation of 3500 meals every day through donating in kind.
c. Community Development
For the betterment of society, NFL is continuously engaged in welfare programs such as
providing clothes and toys to underprivileged children, organizing friendly football matches,
providing food during emergency situations and natural disasters, installing water filtration
plants in rural areas, conduct vocational trainings for farmers and many more.
National Foods CSR program aims to promote community development through healthy
lifestyles especially focusing on women’s empowerment and children and will continue to
spearhead this mission in Pakistan.
2. MATCO FOODS:
Matco Foods Limited is a leading Pakistan-based agribusiness with over 50 years of experience
in the rice industry. It is the largest basmati rice exporter from Pakistan operating 5 processing
plants. Its products reach over 60 countries worldwide. Their CSR includes:
a. Community Development
Matco Foods (pvt.) Limited’s vision is to support community service initiatives in the spheres of
education and health in Pakistan. To this end, the company sponsored and formed a charitable
trust by the name of Ghori trust in October as a Non-Profit Organization.
Rehabilitation Projects:
Matco Foods with the help of its international buyers and employees has always contributed
tons of rice during earthquakes, floods to various charitable organizations, NGO’s, and the
National Disaster Management Authority. Matco Foods is a regular contributor to the charitable
organization known as the “Robin Hood Army."
b. Health And Nutrition
Company has always contributed and aims to continue in future towards the betterment of health
facilities available to the society.
c. Education And Literacy
The company contributed funds to The Citizens Foundation (TCF) in 2009 for the establishment
of a school and its running costs for three years. Company initiated its first ‘Apprenticeship
Technical Training Program’ at Matco’s production facilities. The objective of this program was
to provide young individuals with theoretical knowledge and practical skills of technical know-
how, thereby improving their skill set and future employment opportunities.
3. ENGRO FOODS
Engro Foods was formed in 2005 and within a short span of 10 years it became the 2nd largest
dairy company of Pakistan.
a. Better Nutrition:
With high-quality milk products Engro Foods wants to make a contribution to healthy and
sustainable nutrition for all people, at all ages, now and in the future. Therefore product quality,
safety and sustainability are central to our strategy. Our nutrition policy describes basic
principles for a healthier product range, responsible communication and lifestyle education
programmes.
b. Good living of farmers:
Engro Foods believes in empowering communities. We aim to add as much value to milk as
possible, this value creation becomes evident in various ways, for example trainings provided to
our farmers on best dairy farming practices to increase milk productivity and provide a
sustainable living.
c. Now and for generations to come:
Engro Foods is working on the retention of free grazing, continuous improvement of animal
health and animal welfare, and the preservation of biodiversity. The aim is to reduce the use of
scarce natural resources such as water, raw materials and fossil fuels. Engro Foods aims to keep
the emission of greenhouse gases in 2020 at minimum levels.
4. SHEZAN

a. National-Cause Donation
The Company is committed towards helping distressed communities and made donations to
various educational and charitable organizations including SOS, Children Village, Chhipa
Welfare Association, Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital, LRBT, Edhi Foundation,
Fatimid Foundation, WWF Pakistan, Cancer Care Hospital, Children Hospital, Ansar Burney
Trust Hospital, Lahore General Hospital, Aziz Jehan Begum Trust of Blind and Jinnah Hospital.
b. Consumer Protection Measures
Being a food company, its key focus is on the healthy products. For this purposes, their Research
and Development department is very much active in regular testing of product range for their
quality conformance. Further, the management is very keen regarding the implementation and
execution of ISO rules and regulation for the quality maintenance.
c. Environmental Protection Measures
The environmental protection is significantly focused by the management of the Company in its
policies to protect the environment from any hazards. The management has planted many plants
and trees inside the factory area which shows their complete realization of healthy and pollution-
free environment.
d. Employment Of Special Persons
To ensure the welfare and rehabilitation of special persons, the Company has especially stressed
upon the induction of Disabled Persons in accordance with “Employment and Rehabilitation
Ordinance, 1981”. The Company has established a policy regarding the hiring of disable persons
with assigning a special quota in compliance with the said Ordinance to ensure the protection of
deserving persons.
5. MITCHELS:
Mitchell’s is the oldest food company in Pakistan. It was established in 1933 by Francis J.
Mitchell under the name of Indian Mildura Fruit Farms Ltd. After the country gained
independence in 1947, the company's name was changed to "MITCHELL’S Fruit Farms Ltd."
with the brand name of "MITCHELL’S".
a. Community Service:
Mitchell’s has joined hands with the village communities as well as the British Council, the
Department for International Development (UK) and Voluntary Service Overseas (UK) in an
effort to promote education in rural areas. 25 girls’ schools have been set up in the Okara district
to boost the levels of female literacy. Also a Teachers Training Institute has been set up to
provide quality teaching staff to the local schools. Mitchell’s assures that it will continue to work
towards its aim – promoting education amongst future generations.
Following are the projects, in which company has contributed for the welfare of society:
b. Health:
Company has established Daud Bandagi hospital, designed mainly for mother & child care but
now increasingly engaged in general medical attention.
In collaboration with renowned philanthropic organisation-LRBT an eye care centre properly
equipped has been established in Shergarh. More than 2000 patients have received attention and
thanks to the Trust, 250 more have received free cataract operations at the LRBT hospital in
Lahore.
A dispensary facility has been set up attending to nearly 70 patients daily for primary medical
care an medicines are issued free of charge.
c. Education:
First, the derelict 16th century Sher Shah Suri mosque was rebuilt with the addition of a school
for girls, a first for the town. From then to now, there are 32 schools with 4000 pupils, from class
1 to 12, The School system also includes a teacher-training centre.
