1. What have I learned from the experienced (technical)?
Resourcing Global is the company where I spent my OJT.
It helped me to enhance my skills, knowledge and explore other fields of working. I was assigned at the Recruitment Department of the company. My department handles all things when it comes to recruiting such as: filing of the employee’s papers/requirements, encoding, tracking of pre- employed agents, hiring agents, train agents, giving exams, interview applicants, background investigation of applicants and etc. It definitely fits my course especially I am a Business Administration Student major in Human Resource. I have learned the whole process of recruiting an employee as I was assigned to different tasks. First, If there is an applicant I have to get first his/her resume and ask him/her to fill up the log book. Then I will lend two kinds of examinations for the applicant which are the grammar test and the english proficiency test. After they take the test, I will o ahead and check their papers and after that I will call the HR Director to conduct the initial interview. I learned how to interact with different applicants as well as how to assist them. I also learned how to file the employees’ requirements and papers, both active and inactive. The paper includes different requirements like BIR, Contracts and etc. Encoding applicants resume to the company’s database and updating them from time to time was also given to me. It is encoded on the database so that if ever there will be a vacant position that a certain applicant is qualified, then the management can easily sort and contact them. We also experienced to sort and differentiate the applicants resume according to their degrees. I was even assigned to the front desk area where I used to assist people inquiries and questions. I was also able to experience how to assist people on a Job Fair because during the Palayan City Foundation they conduct a job fair at PCBH (Palayan City Business Hub). We were also trained and enrolled to a call canter training which is part of the OJT, we were taught how to handle calls properly since we are enrolled to a subject called BPO. Overall, my On the Job Training at Resourcing Global in PCBH is very helpful and unforgettable.
2. My experience with the people around me.
In the place where I was trained, I experienced how to
mingle with the people around me. One of our trainers told us not to be shy. She said that we have to learn how to smile everyday so we can produce good vibes. She also said that we have to learn how to be more humble and approachable with those people around us in that way we can develop self confidence. People working in Resourcing Global are very approachable and open about how they can help us to grow. They are very positive people that made my OJT memorable and happy.
3. The most memorable event during the practicum?
There are many things that happened during my OJT but
the most memorable one for me is when we enter the call center training at Palayan city Institute of Technology. It is my favorite one because we were taught how to handle different calls in a call center. I also learn how to gain more self confidence because we have many impromptu experiences there. I enjoyed when we were asked to record our voices for a sample as an agent. We also experienced to handle the script of an agent and memorize some of the rebuttals like a real agent. We also experienced different activities that help to enhance our talents. Our instructor at PCIT (Palayan City Institute of Technology) is very friendly and intelligent enough to equip us with much knowledge about call center. Our fluency in English is being enhanced as well since we are not allowed to talk in tagalog during the training. Most of all everybody became friends after the training. 4. What can I recommend for the improvement of the practicum program?
I would recommend that they should try to train their
trainee in many ways by giving them a task that would help to expand their knowledge, learning and ideas in many fields of working. I will also recommend that they should also try to give them an individual task where they can practice to stand alone and do the task by themselves. A weekly report about what they learn is a must as well since this is where they can see if the trainee is learning or not. Try also to talk with them about their suggestions that might help the company for better.
5. My advice to those who will take their practicum in the
near future
For those who will take their practicum in the near
future, my advice is that you have to be serious in every tasks assigned to you. Since this is a chance for you to see yourself about what are the things you can do better or to exceed more and what are your weaknesses to make it your strength. This will really help you to develop your skills and knowledge that you’ve been learning for how many years in school. You need to be more strategic when it comes to work, for you to do the tasks faster and properly done. Show them that you are not just only a trainee but you are just like an employee that taking his/her job well done and make them proud of you. Self discipline is one thing that a trainee needs to improve especially when it comes to time management because it is very important in any job. In result, the company might absorb you in the future if you have a good performance.
